Intent with psychedelics

yeah man i know what you mean! It's not like i really keep one of those things directly in my mind when i trip. Just gotta be free and let all the ideas, thoughts, epiphanies come to you..that's when i experience the greatness..the divine..whatever you want to call it haha.

 

i wonder if the opposite is kinda true - that when you go into a trip expecting it to be revelatory or life changing, it's more often not?

 

I think the educational aspect of psychedelics is more closely tied to the person taking them than the chemical, or at least the combination of the two. lots of people take acid tons of times and dont learn a single damn thing from it, but these are the kinds of people who dont learn a single damn thing from much in life. so if you're the kind of person who is good at growing from situations and increasing your understanding in some sense, then psychedelics will pretty regularly give you educational times. Though on the flipside I guess the chemical in question is important too; some are certainly more likely to be educational than others, though i would be cautious asserting much more than that. I wouldn't distinguish between LSD and mushrooms to say which is more educational overall, but i would hazard a guess that they are both more educational than MDMA all things being equal. Not to shit on MDMA, it can teach you a lot and is one of the best psychedelics out there, but it couldn't approach the kind of content that the classics have.

I've had tons of trips that taught me nothing though, on 2c-b, LSD, MDMA, hell even miprocin and im sure i could name others. I've smoked DMT and not learned a thing, not sure if all my DPT adventures have "taught" me anything . . . it seems to be a very multivariable thing. sometimes there's just nothing new for you to learn at the moment, from this teacher.

 

I agree with almost everything you are saying Mr. Writer but the first time I took ecstasy at a rave it was as big as a mental bomb/epiphany as LSD.

 

i feel like i took away something beneficial from my one use of mdma, even though i didn't "roll" very hard. since then, i've been raising my voice less often to my fiance. we usually don't have very bad arguments, but we seem to have a lot of little ones from being impatient and too quick to yell at the other one. i decided on mdma that i REALLY don't wanna be like that.

 

For me its always to learn something about myself, i enjoy doing it with friends, fam, loved ones etc but I have also enjoy doing it for artistic purposes, it can be very insightful.

 

It's kind of a mix up for me. I'd be lying if I said I tripped only for spiritual purposes, but considering these days I trip exclusively solo and usually at home, and always with some intent of accomplishing something, I picked spiritual. I guess if I did it mainly for fun, I would do it way more often and wouldn't get those pre-trip jitters every time still...

 

My trips now a days are usually by myself and not at home... I have gone through many stages with psyches but one thing always holds true... sensory enhancement, cause i feel thats what leads to my spiritual gains, it comes from me and the drug, ... Not sensory enhancement as necessarily described, but i realize and learn things because my sense are enhanced.. i don't know, just my opinion..

I agree with the last sentence mostly if not the whole post mr.writer.. I have had profoundly enlightening experiences with both shrooms and LSD(I stay away from RCs) and i have also taken both substances and not learned anything more than the night sky is amazing to look at...I feel its not up to me, i will be shown what i need to be shown.. again just my opinion,,,

 

I try to gain something positive and useful from everything I do, and psychedelics always provide for me in that manner.

usually spiritual, but today its Lucy and i don't see her as spiritual so much as saprlkly... more a fun kinda girl... but hey, who knows... i can sometimes get unexpected spiritual insights with her too... im talking shit ofcourse... all entheos are spiritual... suppose it depends on your definition of spiritual...

 

I generally take what I take with the intent of fun. sometimes, the fun goes into all of those other things.

 

Does anyone notice a difference between intent and/or general use of psychedelics between Males vs. Females? I'm sure there are tons more social groups we could compare but gender i always find an interesting one...

Like I've noticed on these boards more males seem to use psychedelics but the females who do use psychedelics seem to go hard at it, not necessarily in an abuse sense just fairly frequent use.

Of course I'm generalizing, I've yet to really even hear about your psychedelic experience lillallyloukins I know you've shown interest in dmt, pretty sure you've done mushrooms but don't think I've really heard about any of your experiences with psychedelically induced inner exploration... i like to learn a lot about a substance before i go there.... i am VERY interested in DMT because it seems it is peopled and scaped rather like the places i've been without ingesting externally produced psychedelics... yes, shrooms have graced me and they make me giggle a lot about my fears... lsd, if pure is awesome... saw the networks/links with lucy have smoked salvia and will do so again soon... i think i should have a sitter though... the last time i did it, i was on me todd and these two great big giant pythons came to get me... i think they wanted to show me something, but i wasn't ready for that, so they let me go... i know that when i am ready, opportunities will present themselves again.... i wrote down my salvia experience... if i can find it, i will send it to you... :sunny:

 

My intent has usually been recreational, but every time I take them my trip always turns spiritual or psychological. It's at the point where I can't take them recreationally anymore.

edit: don't get me wrong. My first few trips were phenomenal and I felt I learned a lot, or saw things from a different perspective, but really I was just stupid (so I had 'lots "to learn"), and I feel it was mostly the LSD talking anyways.

 

Mostly recreational. I love going to the beach or the park or something and tripping with a bunch of friends and just being silly. its something we can all kinda bond over and everyone just has a good time. I always like when theres some weird mind fuck stuff that'l happen too, but its nice to have a bunch of friends around for support in case the trip starts to go a weird way.

Ive taken acid a few times while playing video games all night and thats fun too, but kinda less meaningful than if i take it with a bunch of people (the times i took it while playing video games i was with friends, but playing video games was the main thing we were doing all night). still fun though. I do drugs to have fun, psychedelics are fun.

 

Usually recreational, but i like to draw while on acid. But occosionally, a spiritual trip will catch me off guard.
