    hey..
I'm new to smoking. I was prescribed medical mj for depression, anxiety, loss of appetite, and insomnia. I've only tried a couple of edibles so far and they have helped. I've been researching strains and I want to try 'bubble gum' and 'train wreck.' I was wondering if anyone has tried these and can tell me about them? What can I expect?

ive had TW. i liked it. if i could find it atm i would give you a better description, will update if i find it. i cant remember if ive had BG before, if i did, it wasnt labeled.

usually i smoke. its faster/ easier for me. but, when it comes to edibles, you should make green butter, and then use that for baking... i prefer brownies when it comes to edibles.

There are medical strain reviews online, just google "bubblegum/trainwreck strain review". All i remember about BG is that it was tastey and made me cough hard.

If he has a medical card he wouldn't even have to bother with this, dispensaries sell more edibles than we could ever even think of making, like all the candy edibles they have lol

I don't think I've ever had Bubble Gum. If I have, I wasn't aware of it. I have, however, smoked Train Wreck about a few years ago, which was the last time I was able to get a hold of it.

Cannabutter is awesome! Use a double boiler to melt your butter and then add your cannabis. Let simmer for as long as you can stand it. I use my "ghost weed," which is the "spent" weed after it gets used up in the vaporizer for my cannabutter. Not as potent as you would get with fresh weed, but it still gets the job done and it doesn't affect the way it tastes. That way, I can smoke my weed and eat it, too, and get more mileage out of my stash. :) Brownies are the classic answer for baking edibles, but you can do the same for anything that calls for butter in a recipe. . . cookies, buttercream frosting, etc.

True, but allot times the edibles are weak. Made more for true medication rather then a high. I find it cheaper to just get some shake and make my own.

Me, too! I wish I lived in a state where marijuana was AT LEAST decriminalized. Jeez. Alabama sucks.

I'm going to throw in my (probably really unpopular) 2 cents here

mmj does indeed have medical applications, like treating glaucoma and nausea. it's probably a much better option for treating pain than opiates, if it's effective

I'm not aware of there being any clinical evidence that mmj is good for treating anxiety and depression long term. I've heard many accounts that mj will make these things much worse

many of the doctors who prescribe mmj will give it to anyone who pays the fee and who says they want the mmj for a medical condition. the fact that you got an mmj prescription from a doctor doesn't mean that mmj will prove to be an effective treatment for you in the long term

in the short term, smoking mmj will make you feel good, and will probably help with your appetite. it may also help you sleep. don't be surprised though if your symptoms get worse long term though. lots of people get more depressed/anxious/paranoid smoking weed

imho, marijuana should only be used by

    1) healthy recreational users

    or

    2) people who have medical conditions when there is strong evidence that mmj is the best form of treatment

I recommend that you check out the book "curing depression naturally with traditional chinese medicine" by bob flaws

it might be better for you to focus on getting regular, gentle aerobic exercise, meditation/yoga/qi gong, and dietary changes

I can make more suggestions, if you would like

what ever you decide to do, I hope that everything works out!

Marijuana cures my driving anxiety. I don't even drive straight anymore. I just can't do it. Other idiot drivers freak me out far too often, and I must be stoned when I drive. When I'm stoned, I am the perfect driver. I go the speed limit, I'm focused and alert while being intensely buzzed, I never get pulled over anymore (knock on wood, lol), and all sorts of other perks.
