Right, I started stretching my ear this morning with a 1.6-2mm.
Would my ear get damaged if I moved up a size after just 24 hours?
It's a little sore, but I think I could handle it, because I have a high pain threshhold.

    Thanks all!

It's not so much about pain threshold but more to do with actually damaging your ears and risking infection. I went straight from 1.2mm to 3mm, then up to a 4mm about 8 days after. You should wait until its not sore, might take a few days, a week, might be tomorrow. Once its not sore when you move it then it should be healed.

you are supposed to wait a few weeks minimum inbetween stretches even if it doesnt hurt.
    It's not a race..

take your time with it, the slower the better.. Give your ears a break, you don't want them snapping on you or getting scar tissue!

absolutely take your time... your body will let you know when youre ready for a new stretch! the smaller stretches will heal much quicker, needing more time to heal as the jewelry gets larger... dont rush and take your time... if you treat your ears right the process will go smoother and faster. wait a month for smaller stretches and 1.5 - 2 months for larger stretches (meaning the size of your jewelry had gradually increased! i dont want you to think im advocating skipping sizes, which im not!)
