An old bathtub should make a nice replacement for tin sheets if you want to fire large quantities of small ceramic bottles or earthenware mason jars.

oh yea.... i have a group of like 15+ dreadlocked hippies from around the world on another forum im a member of wanting to start a community, possibly in the ky/tenn area.... they are waiting patiently for me to find out if this is legit or not... they wanna do the self sustaining community thing with hobbit holes in the hills.... lol...

 

that's all do-able. but to start, they will need to be able to support themselves atleast alittle. 15 people will be wayyy to many people to support at first, as much as we'd want to

I just read your posts and I am excited to learn that you are so close to where I currently live (lexington) I am not new to the idea of living off of the grid and thriving in nature, however, I am 30 years old and have never (outside of camping a couple of times) actually followed through with my dreams of doing so.
