simple question which I believe comes up every 4th year: Are you going to vote in barefeet? I will be, long range forecast shows temps in the 70's
Probably not. My wife and I always vote together, she would'nt want to be seen with me BF in that situation.
I more then likely wont be and heres why--i work on Tuesdays so normaly what i do is get up earlier and go vote before going to work so ill be wearing my steeel toes.
I vote absentee, and yesterday I filled out my ballot and went into the county elections office barefoot to drop it off.
perhaps where you live, my local elections are timed with state/national elections (every two years) and many voters do not vote in these local elections. local elections run about 15-25% of eligible voters in off year voting (non-presidential). it is really hard to get geared up for a city council race, when it is cronyism anyway.
There have been 2 local elections since I started BF'ing in May 2011, and I was barefoot at both of them. However both times I went after work and there were no lines anyway. I'm not sure what time I should go tomorrow to avoid massive lines. If it's during work hours then I probably won't be BF. I recall going in 2004 when I lived with my parents in a different town and state, and had to wait in line for like 3 hours. The 2008 election, in which I went to my current voting location, I think I went around lunch time or a little after and did not have to wait. I don't think I want to wait until after I get off work at 5 PM because the lines will probably be massive there once again.
You bet! I look forward to this every year and especially in a Presidential Election. This is a day I enjoy the freedom to not only vote but to enjoy my self expression at the voting place whether people like it or not.
I voted barefoot yesterday too. My polling place was at a elementary school. There was a guy at the door, who asked me to turn my cell phone off. I did notice he glanced at my feet, but that was it. On to the check in person. She also glanced but only asked for my ID, to sign by my name, and to go get a voting ticket. The lady at the ticket machine also did a glance, handed me a ticket and told me which side to use. I cast my ballot barefoot. Just the way it should be... with no discrimination over footwear.
Since I live in New Zealand I have to vote absentee so I've never had the chance to try it in the US. I did vote barefoot in our last election over here in November 2011. We hold our elections on Saturdays and during late spring so it was a nice warm sunny day. People tend to bring their kids along to see them vote as well so when I voted probably 1/3 of the people at the polling place were barefoot. It was a primary school too, so 80% of the people in there everyday are barefoot anyway so obviously I knew there'd be no issues.
From CNN's Year in Review, a barefoot voter! http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/04/world/gallery/year-in-pictures/index.html?hpt=hp_c1 Check out the end of the selection as I cant blow this pic up anymore
Well, he is a surfer and he's in the lifeguard HQ, so BF sightings would be expected there I would think.
