Has anybody noticed that whenever, with most people I've heard argue about politics, people are never open minded and almost never change their opinions when it comes to politics... or just anything? The arguments get nowhere. It's much like fanboys, "[insertname] is better because it's [insertname]" is generally their reasoning. It's a shame there's not an acid using candidate. :bobby:
I think a lot of it has to do with the establishment using the 'divide and concour' method. They put a wedge between us all and keep us busy fighting amounts ourselves, that way we don't really notice when they start stripping our liberties away.
That is how it is with politics and religion. People have their views and they stick to them. After all, Sharing the world has never been humanity's defining attribute.
The problem I have with political discourse is that most people do not know what they're talking about, regardless of their political affiliation. They merely repeat talking points put forward by the overpaid pundits from the left and right on TV and radio. It's all bullshit. They (the media and its controllers) administer both sides to create a political debate consisting of authorized left wing and right wing talking points, while things that are real and important are often ignored. That's why people don't know shit about how the banking system works, but they know about all the phony smoke screen issues designed to create a partisan mentality. But politics are quite simply a joke. They just are not real. They serve solely to dupe the public and get them taking sides and believing they have a say, while blind to the real truth which has nothing to do with left/right politics.
Never? And how could anyone possibly know that? Historical records only go back so far you know, and that aint very far. There are tens of thousands of years of human history before that.
There are examples of tribal society's that still preserve their ancient view of the the earth as belonging to no one to this day.
- how would that help? I guess it is difficult to change your mind because it has a knock on effect. Imagine you were constantly finding out you were wrong - don't you prefer to think you are right?
Ah yeah I was just joking around a little bit. :sultan: I've only been on the Hipforums since yesterday, but everybody makes amazing points on here. This is my type of place!
I admit when I'm wrong, it's not so bad... as long as you weren't a pompous ass just before realizing it.
Yes, I have noticed that no one changes their mind. Yet, that is not why I get into these discussions. I involve myself because there is a truth in what I believe that is relevant to our times. It is valuable for me to spread it. The biggest problem I see is that those that don't agree are so irritated by that.
What people fail to realize is that humans hold many truths. Because you don't believe something to be true doesn't mean that it's a lie to someone else. We are diverse creatures and see things from many perspectives.
Excellent point. That's a great thing about humanity......perspective and diversity. We each have our own truth. That should not be irritating, but to many people it is.
I'm quoting this from another forum.... "It's a shame that people don't use the same judgement on their own party, that they do on the party they are against." That fits with their religion also.
She's misrepresenting truth with opinions. Everyone has an opinion on what they think is the truth, but there is only one truth. For instance, religion and politics are just opinions, the truth is totally different than both. No political party or religion has a monopoly on truth. "Love those that seek the truth, beware of those who say they know it."
In that case I would ask the question, would I rather be right or would I rather be happy. I would come down with happy because then everything seems right.
