Silk Road

Has anybody here used it? Is it reliable, fair, etc? I've been thinking about ordering some acid and hash from there but I'm concerned about whether I get ripped off, etc.

 

If you use the escrow system and encrypt, you should be fine. Generally the legit sellers have no problem with waiting for payment, but as a new buyer you may have to pay up front for a while until you establish your reputation.

Only time I have been ripped off, seller asked for early finalization, and as a new buyer I had to.

But cops are really onto it, their mission is to crack it. But the funny thing is the technology was invented by the Navy, it's meant to encrypt things like missile codes and troop movement. But the main rule with computers is if it can be made, it can be broken.

Some day they will get into it, but as of now, it's impossible for IP address to be tracked, which is very good for everyone involved.

 

I know the bitcoin thing helps with anonymity... but they're a pain in the ass and expensive.

 

My friend just got 100 hits of 25-I-NBOMe off of silk road and it showed up promptly, nicely packaged, and with everything in order. Spend lots of time browsing and reading reviews, after a while you'll start to get a feel for whats legit and whats not.

Yes. I'm not soliciting illegal activity, I'm just getting information about a website. It's not illegal to talk about Silk Road is it?

 

I think it's fairly safe.

But, pay only with bitcoin.

It's an exercise in a truly free and unregulated market. They live and die by their reviews. If they don't provide excellent customer service and product, everyone is going to review them as a crappy distributor and no one will purchase from them.

 

Well, not completely unregulated. They did ban weapons from the site.

 

Anything done on the internet can be traced, so I don't know why anyone would want to take the chance, even if everyone else you know has done it and gotten away with it. It just doesn't seem worth the risk to me.

I don't believe for a fraction of a second that it's impossible for an IP to be tracked. I think anyone who believes that is being naive.

 

Perhaps, but they're not going to get you for anything more than solicitation. There's no way to track bitcoin.

 

How does this work ? I've never heard of it till just now and I'm interested to say the least. How do you go about getting into the system to order anything ? This is way cool !

The marketplace you mentioned may be common knowledge, but source discussion is not permitted in the Hip Forums...

 

That place is really not cool at all. Up until last night is never heard of it and then I went and checked into it. Guns, c4 and everything else. I really can't believe the place even exist on the net. C4 ! I'm all for peace not blowing shit up...personally I think we have plenty of that going on in this world as it is. I have no problem with someone & recreational drug use but I wouldn't advise buying anything from that site.

 

The silk road suspended all it's weapons sales about two months ago.

 

The source thing is meant to apply to sharing people and places as sources. Since SR is an online marketplace, and the gov't knows about it, I don't believe that it counts as source discussion because it is not publicly revealing a source that hasn't already revealed itself, the same way we can talk about Timothy Leary or Owsley even though they are/were "sources." Also, since I didn't ask for a source, but only asked about Silk Road and people's experiences, it's not soliciting sources from other people.

 

Gawker wrote an article about it, so I don't think that talking about it here matters.
