If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?

Ahem...happiness IS the national currency, hence the ever skyrocketing antidepressant industry, the cults of positive thinking, etc. etc. In today's market it won't do to just be a diligent worker - you need to radiate happiness. Especially when confronting situations which otherwise might inspire feelings like anger, despair and frustration. Of course advertising is the original happiness industry, but really any business selling merry distraction from reality is guaranteed to be successful.

yah but you can't go to the store and buy eggs with happiness alone. you'd probably end up getting laughed at.

Confused. You said "if happiness is the currency". That assumes that one would be able to buy eggs with happiness, no?

If happiness was the national currency, the richest people would be drug-dealing clowns. Who could possibly make people happier?

true. but akriekanibalie said, "Ahem...happiness IS the national currency,"
he was stating that happiness is already the current currency and it is not.

Helping people because if you don't feel good after helping someone in need you shouldn't belong here. Youre just slowing everyone else down for your personal gain, so just change or kill yourself because I want to advance already. Please :)

imagineering. specifically infrastruture in harmony with wild nature, and likewise regional planning, based upon sustainable natural harmony, which i belive should be the only regulation on construction, INSTEAD of building codes.

at least, this is where i have found gratification. for the more social of course, helping others. given a national or international currency of happiness, far fewer would require such help however, possibly none would at all.
