Gay Pride Miami Beach April 15, 2012 I was away in Missouri last April so I missed this annual event on Miami Beach, but made it this year. It did sprinkle a bit at noon – literally rained on our parade but that was just a minute and then it cleared for a perfect sunny day with cool ocean breezes. This year I didn’t get pix of the parade as good because, unlike 2010, they set up barriers along the route. But I got a few from a distance. Leading the parade was an old black Miami Beach Police car. This car might have carted fags to jail for crimes against nature in the day. But the grim old black & white days are gone and this car fits the Art Deco neighborhood much better. (OK, this is not the normal color of MBPD cars – but a good showpiece) Leading the parade was a very tall, flamboyant woman. Got her pic while she was walking back. Then there was the proud young man with Pride Flag
I did get a few pix of floats: Parade Float with Undie Models in White Parade Float with Bears Chaz Bono in a Car Girl on a Motorcycle
Most of my pix were taken mingling with all the thousands of ppl after the parade. I love ppl watching and of course sometimes get turned on by the cute boys I see. Saw this real cutie walk by 'Chris' Fortunately I didn’t make a pass at ‘him’ until after I heard her speak. Chriistyy & Shale OH Well! Chriistyy and her friends were a delightful group of girls. Chriistyy & Friends It was indicative of the whole feeling as we all came together with our various different trips, but accepting and out among friends. 4 Young Girl Friends
Among my candids of ppl in love, You know I would get a pic of Cute Boys in Blue Briefs. Also saw this interesting verse tat on a young man’s side. These tats are often very personal and after reading it discovered it was a tribute to ‘Brian’ for life. Finally, ran into one of the many “Legacy Couples” two guys who have been together for 41 years. Makes you wonder what the religious fundies and other mean-spirited right-wing nuts are protecting when they defend the ‘defense of marriage act.’ It was a very good afternoon just hangin’ with friends who feel sorta like family.
Love the pics Shale. Unfortunately I was unable to make it because I was in Kentucky for a Wedding that week. I especially the pic of the Bear Nation float =D and of course the pic of Kevin & Bernie, so cute (41 years is a huge triumph!)
Your great pics made me feel like I was actually at the parade, Shale. And a good time was had by all. :sunny: QP
