No I don't think so. I'm pig headed so even when I'm clearly wrong I still believe I'm right. Prove it to me? Pfffft facts, you can try and prove anything with facts.
I don't think I've come across an argument here yet though.
And no matter how many people say its good, the avengers was a shit movie.

I think I was paganish when I first started coming here. I am no longer. While the change in my opinion had little to do with this forum, it was just another example on how elitist and/or silly these people behaved. (Once upon a time, the pagan forum here had people in it)

While my opinion of gun control hasn't changed, I do understand the other side of the argument for it better than I used to. American posters really like to talk about guns. It's hard to avoid.

My opinion of barefooters has changed. I once just though it was a thing I and other people liked to do, to feel free and natural but it seems most posting barefooters are just whingers with entitlement problems. I was sad about that one and I try to avoid the term 'barefooter' because that's what it reminds me of.

 

Perhaps but it would take quite a bit of convincing for me to explore the land down under

Some of my opinions have changed but it is not so clear how much these forums can be credited for that. When I look at 10 year old posts it seems like it is all rather subtile in my case too. If I took the time and effort I might find a concrete example but since I am not sure I pass on that for now

 

I definitely hate liberals more than ever since coming to Hipforums.

But it's OK because I don't like so-called conservatives any better.

 

It's ok since most people are not just their political motivation in most cases

 

I think hip forums has given me a lot of different perspectives on many different topics over the years. Its definitely helped influence my way of thinking and the way I view the world.

I also had no idea so many people were attracted to their siblings before coming here. So there's that.

 

Not really... before I started using online messageboards in 2006 (I've been on HF since 2007), I felt like I couldn't relate to anyone. And if anything, conversing with people online has only reinforced those feelings even more in my mind. If one thing has changed, it's that I am more aware of there being decent people in the world. I'm certainly still very cynical and wary where people are concerned, but it is fair to say the positivity I have encountered from some people online, including some from HF, has made me slightly less cynical about humanity than I was before I had internet access.

 

Sadly I think my time here has impressed upon me just how uneducated and unmotivated to educate themselves a lot of people are.

I'm always astonished at some of the questions that get posted here, and what is even more amazing is that for about as many keystrokes most often factual and correct information can be found elsewhere.
This place is great to get personal insight and experiences, but not so much for getting real serious help.

Overall my faith in the human creature has been bolstered by my interactions here, but at the same time I am utterly dismayed at the level of irrational & illogical beliefs/ideas people cling to.... on ALL sides of all fences, myself included.

 

Are you really so naïve to think they really espouse those irrational beliefs?

It’s fun to occasionally think out of the box, become argumentative, or simply play the devils advocate

I have changed drastically. The biggest thing would probably be my outlook on homosexuality. I used to have the "fags are wrong because God said so" mentality, that was instilled to me as a youth. I held a lot of hate in my heart for some reason and I've learnt how to be free of such things over the past few years. I wouldn't say that this site is responsible, but I definitely used it as a tool.
