Anyone here live in or near Santa Monica? I've lived here for quite a while. It's a pretty chill place to live. So expensive though...

Yeah, it's getting worse and worse. They already upped the pricing for the parking in downtown Santa Monica. $14 flat rate! Crazy and insulting!

Yeah, it's just best to either bike it over here or take the bus. But agian, the city has been going downhill since at least 2008. In 2008, they cut down most of the trees along 2nd and 4th street claimin that they were diseased and infected...Come to find out the real reason was because City Hall was worried that they were blocking the sinage of the buildings. Now, with most of the trees gone...business hasn't gotten any better. Even the store owners said that there was no problem with the trees. Man, this place used to be green but now it's all about green.

I left in 1980.. lived near Lincoln & Venice Blvd.. houses that were $35K in 1970 were $350K in 1980.. I was renting a 950 sf, 2/1 bungalow for $235.. moved north to Redding.. bought a brand new 1,350 sf 3/2 starter house on 1/3 acre in city limits for $62K..

there were only 20 million people in entire state then.. what is it now? 24 million south of Bakersfield?

when I grew up west of Sepulveda people still pulled horse-drawn carts as they peddled fresh vegetables.. LAX had just changed its name from Mines Field.. no Marina del Rey.. no 405 or Santa Monica freeways.. bus drivers let me take my Dad's high power air rifle to shoot rabbits for supper in the wetlands and farms..

that's all been paved over now..
