Yes and no... I'm just a snot-nosed psychology student, but one thing that's true is that women will often (not always) "decide" within moments of meeting a man whether she's sexually interested in him at that moment in time. The part that's not true is the concept that he's stuck in that spot permanently once she decides.

Men tend (and this is a "tendency", not an "absolute") to be more open to sleeping with any available woman.

Both sexes will also often study potential mates over time trying to figure out whether they're suitable, and men as well as women tend to send a lot of signals that they're interested, but then back off of closing the deal, so to speak.
