We need to talk about different kinds of corn...most of the corn we eat like canned corn or corn on the cob is 'sweet corn' which is the modern hybridized form.

The more ancient varieties are what is called Flint corn, Indian corn, or common field corn.

This has an extremely hard outer 'pericarp' that makes it difficult to grind or digest. It was the ancient Americans that solved this little problem thousands of years ago when they discovered "Nixtamalization"

[Nixtamalization was invented in ancient Mesoamerica, now Mexico and central America, over 3500 years ago. The alkalai of choice in this region is calcium hydroxide (slaked lime). Nixtamalization spread with corn culture to the American southwest, where nixtamal is known by the native American word hominy, and potassium carbonate (potash) and lye are the common bases. Nixtamalization eased the workload of women charged with performing the back-breaking labor of grinding corn. Untreated corn is extremely difficult to grind by hand –especially using the traditional Mesoamerican metate e mano: a stone table and rolling pin. The alkaline water of nixtamalization partially dissolves the corn’s hard skin (the pericarp), allowing the grain to take up water much more quickly and grind much more easily.]

wheat gluten dulls the mind and is involved in mind control. Corn is extremely bad for the liver. You would be best to avoid both and try other grains like millet, quinoa, brown rice.

    Water memory and mind control!

It's like people don't even see the Science title in this forum.

If you're gonna make some wacked out statements in here...like Placid has already called for....slap a citation on that.

Do people eat that much corn anyway? Over here it is more wheat what is consumed daily by mass amounts of people. I'm not convinced it is bad for you though (certainly not if you have a bit of a varied diet) and that wheat grains are involved in mind control can not be taken seriously. At least not without a good source, so yeah, where did you get that from?

Seems like you are spreading misinformation or believe anything you are told. I can not find anything credible about gluten and mind control.

doesn't explain the people who eat that stuff and remain skinny as rails.

this sounds like another paranoid conspiracy theorist the likes of ones who think toothpaste is poisoned.

also, an 'opiate'? really? is it a derivative of the opium alkaloids found in the poppy plant? the last i heard gliadin was a prolamin. that's not even an opioid. and CBS is big enough to be able to make a difference between the two terms and not publish total bullshit on their site.

If everyone in China and India jumped at the same time, the Earth's orbit would be altered in such a way that the Earth would become uninhabitable.

    Seems Legit.

Dude, you want a tin foil hat? I can totally make you a bitchin' tin foil hat, all steam punk and shit. It would totally protect your head from the mind control lazors whoever the hell it is who wants to control your mind must be using to activate the wheat gluten or whatever.

But seriously, what kind of logic makes "wheat gluten is used to control your mind" reasonable? Please, share your thought process.

My mistake. I meant to say seeds that are not grains, such as sunflower seeds, flax seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds.

No. Even cooked corn kernels cannot be digested since the outer bran is made of cellulose. Digesting cellulose requires an enzyme that humans don't produce. That's why corn shows up in poop.

Unless the corn is sufficiently processed (i.e. corn flour, corn meal) or in a manner that zombiewolf described, it's going to move through the digestive tract untouched.
