Hi Whispers, yes arent our government organizations just lovely for pointing this out to us ahead of time. I dont know what we would do without them. They are worthless when it come to inspection of stuff like this. This is the whole problem with the world when it come to brain damage and cancer, man made chemicals.

the system is set up in the corporations favor, they can market a product, make a profit before they know its affects from long term use. it clearly shows making a buck is so much more important then people's lives or health.

yet another reason not to use shampoo. we quit a while ago because of the sls.

i think it's a pretty safe rule of thumb that if a product wasnt available 3 or 4 generations ago, that it hasnt been around long enough to know if it's safe for humans to use or not. i'm not saying that everything that was used back then is safe! :D but we're taking part in a really big human experiment with all of these chemicals that we're slathering on and putting into our bodies.

Terrific. I've just washed my hair for the first time in four days.

Anyone have any alternatives to shampoo... what about that Dr Bronner's stuff, is that okay? Can't seem to find it in the health food shops here anymore... the GNC chain has taken over all the health food shops in Australia and all they sell is their shiny new GNC bottles of expensive crap in their perfect shiny minimalist stores. All style, no substance, as usual

only problem is, how do you convince the rest of the population in the country to stop using shampoo??
It's just like smoking cigarettes they know the risks, but they are still going to keep on doing it.

I really don't go for all this hype myself; if we have to believe all of these news stories we can't use anything anymore, really. Avoiding every potential health problem would be so much of a hassle for me that I couldn't enjoy life anymore; I'd rather live a little shorter and carefree than live a couple years longer stressing out about every product -shampoo, food, cleaning products, air fresheners, etc, etc, etc- I use... besides, stress is one of the worst things of all for our health! ;)

But for those who asked about alternatives, if you go to the link at the very bottom, you'll find a list of products that have this chemical. There's quite a few shampoos in there but not all by a long stretch. Simply find a shampoo that doesn't contain it!

I knew it! That Sauve shampoo ate through the ring around the bathtub one night when it spilled. I use only Nature's Gate now.

One more reason to buy from companies that use natural ingredients like KissMyFace or Arbonne.
