> I recall my first LSD Trip in 1975. the Trip blew my 15 year-old mind! I was overwhelmed with the magic intrinsic in everything; matter was alive with an internal energy I never dreamed existed, but for the first time I could see with my own eyes. The world, both "natural" & man-made" was a beautiful place. Only hours earlier, I felt, as most depressed teen-agers, that the world was hostile, & I was bored with life. But all that changed in 8 hours! Rather than hating life, I now Loved it!!! > Simply ingesting a small "4-Way Window-pane" transformed me forever. Religious values seriously in question were instantly affirmed. the Spiritual realm was real. Of course, it wasn't long until I realized Christianity's ethno-centrism could severely limit my spiritual development. Soon I developed a attitude that paralled some beliefs of shamanism & Zen-Buddism. > People fear the unknown as much as they fear change. Since psychedelic experiences often are among the strangest things a person can ever do & can change a persons world view ( their Reality tunnels ), people are naturally scared. Fear triggers the flight or fight response, thus we have campaigns to stamp out the percieved menace, including draconian laws legislated against Psychedelics. But, because we know the psychedelic experience is precious, one of our first reactions after discovering it's power is to want to spread the news & successfully psychedelicize our families, friends, neighbors & especially our "enemies". > This tendency to proselytize psychedelics, promote the "cause" if you will is acceptable if... #1, You aren't ashamed of what you do with LSD, DMT, MDMA, Psilocybin, Mescaline etc. & #2, Your NOT Holding!!! Sadly, the Psychedelics were hastily lumped in with all the other drugs proscribed by law. In doing so the authorities tainted much of the psychedelic movement. If the "Establishment" could be so wrong about LSD, Marijuana ect., then they were likely to be wrong about other drugs. Speed, Cocaine & Heroin might not be so bad after all. Many drug-abuse casualties are a direct result from this mistake in associating something as sacred as psychedelics with something so profane as the likes of "Crack" or "Bathtub-Crank"! > Ironically, overwhelming evidence suggests that Psychedelics are effective in rehabilitating drug addicts, especially alcoholics. > Althou it isn't as common as the mainstream media claims, it is possible to "abuse" psychedelics. I speak from personal experience. Yes, LSD is a "Party Drug", well suited in low doses for mindless interaction. It's great for enhancing the experience of film, especially Kubrick, Lucas, Spielberg & Ed Wood jr.!!! It's fun to do while going to bars & dancing, it's a good way to drink more & stay awake longer. > A friend of mine refutes the claim that psychedelics tend to enhance a person psychologically. In fact he's partially correct. Many people who tripped hard are fundamentally unchanged afterward. Perhaps they repress their experience. > Psychedelics are no panacea. Admittedly the psychedelic community has it's share of problems! > Serious work with psychedelics, especially DMT & Psilocybon, means high doses taken in solitary darkness, as suggested by Terence McKenna. Music, nature, even a campfire or fireplace, demands too much attention for internal exploration to take place unhindered. Distractions abound. > Psychedelic trips might yield more enduring influence on the culture at large if trippers, after coming down, shared their experiences, compared notes, so to speak, in order to better map this strange landscape. I'm not knocking sensual experience. Feeling good & having fun is still valid! > Another complaint I hear from a friend is the inarticulate way we describe our experiences. For some "trippy" & "psychedelic" are to vague and lose meaning by overuse. But when something is psychedelic or trippy, we usually know what we mean, even if others don't. Yet it wouldn't hurt to evolve a better vocabulary to more precisely communicate our psychedelic experiences. > Meanwhile, let's remember to avoid taking ourselves too seriously. > After all, that's one of the first lessons learned from high-dose trips!!! eace: PEACE!
I love this thread . As a teenager, I also got introduced to psychedelics with many mushroom experiences and a few weak LSD experiences. I got into psychedelics with the totally wrong mindset and was looking for fun and something different.(It's documented in this site as a member for 5-6 years) These experiences helped me keep in open mind and lead to the very experience you described in your first paragraph! Very recently I was blessed with a very strong LSD experience! 6 hit's of very strong liquid LSD. I'd take me forever to describe the trip in full detail, but i was left with the same understanding and attitude as you describe, very different than my previous exsistance ( Bored of life, wanting something more, lost, defeated, depressed) I was uplifted, transcendence! Coming to that point took a very long time for me although, several long week meditating and thinking on the experience( The initial reaction was this was a bad trip, very different than what i'd be use to, that it was scary and dark and thats as much as i wanted to think about it) But, with acceptance it became something beautiful. (I was a stubborn person, throwing away my very reality and accepting a new reality and ego was hard to accept) I just agree with everything here man! Great vibes! If you ever want to share your experiences with me just let me know!
Good summary of what's what. You should enjoy this forum, as inarticulate trip reports aren't typical here. http://soundcloud.com/inertg/alloveus-festival-closing-set
A Psychedelic Vision of What Could Be! > All Human evils can eventually be traced to the narrowness of Human Consciousness, for all our problems can be summarized in one word "Triviality." We are victims of the "Demon of the Trivial." > As a species Humans seem incapable of working for the common good. H.G. Well's pointed out long ago that we could create a Utopia, a super-civilization, if people could experience a "Change of Heart," & cease to feel separate from one another. > MDMA? < > All Human Beings can enter into a close, deep communication, if they will make an effort to break thru the normal barriers of pettiness and self-absorption - the whole Human Race might eventually enter into such a deep sympathy that everyone will care as much for other people's welfare as for their own, so that everyone treats every other member of the Human Race as a mother treats her baby, or a lover treats their lover; with a deep open sympathy! > It is so clear that this would solve most every problem, that most misery could be eliminated; that problems would cease to be so insolvable, when everyone felt this deep, Mutual Understanding! > Or Perhaps I'm A Deluded Dreamer still caught-up in Visions of a Psychedelic Xanadu? eace: PEACE!
