Surprised this thread has not been created yet. I am currently experimenting with video creation. And am using default Windows live movie maker. And was just wondering your thoughts on other free video editors? What are your thoughts on this one? Recommendations? Thank's

I use AVS. I've always been pretty happy with it. Comes with a lot of extras, too.

Don't know about linux stuff, but if you want more than just basic MS A/V editing you're gonna have to pay a good bit.
And the learning curve is quite steep...

    ...here's a good one.

The Linux distros that I posted are free , most Linux soft ware is free . Many distros of Linux are live cds , dvds , they run form the cd, or dvd drive so you see if it does what you want . You can either down load the i.s.o. file and burn it to a disk , or buy a disk for a few bucks . Some places to buy disks are on distro watch . http://distrowatch.com/ desert rat

not necessarily correct, the video editing software one requires depends entirely on what the source video is, what sort of editing will be required, and what the intended output format of the edited video file will be.

i am a videographer and video editor, and i do not use any commercial grade (paid for) video editing software, because these days there are so many different free open source programs that are available, but again it all depends on what your source files are, and what you want to do with the video.

all my video work in shot in 1080/50p AVCHD format (28M/bit m2ts) so i usually work with bluray format for outputting my wedding videos to, and i can do it all with open source software.
