They were one of my favorite bands back in high school. No, I didn't attend high school in the 60s, but rather the mid to late 90s. I had unique taste in music among my peer group for certain. But yeah, they were, in my opinion, the best of the late 60's San Francisco bands. They were great musicians who avoided the hippy cliches of the time, while at the same time incorporating so many different styles and genres (psych, blues, country, folk, rock and roll, etc.) to create their own unique sound. Skip Spence's solo album, Oar, is also worth checking out -- a beautifully sparse slice of alt-country/psych Americana. Anyway, great band. Their debut album will always have significance to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mREwfJ1TIQ"]Moby Grape - Changes - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXBs4heZN1Y"]Moby Grape - 12 - Lazy Me (by EarpJohn) - YouTube
Oar is such a great album! Too bad Skip couldn't keep it together....kinda like a American Syd Barrett
