i'm starting a solo acoustic act to work the clubs and bars. i'm coming up with some cool idea's for my set lists. but i was wondering what you think would be entertaining. thanks for your help. ~peace~
umm...paul simon might surprise some people. talking heads is danceable and good for solo acoustic too! good luck!
Bron-y-aur. Its easy to play, incredibly beautiful, yet it sounds like it is hard to play. Plus if things are getting too crazy and you get nervous or something it can give you a solid brake to re-compose since you need to tune to a different tuning. That's the Way. Super easy to play, fairly obscure Zep song, and beautiful. The tuning is also not standard, but once your in it you can play a few slide-blues songs before or after which people generally like, and they're real easy to improve and get crazy with. Four and Twenty by CSNY. Simple picking, nice melody. Harvest Moon by Neil Young. Another beautiful, simple song with some cool use of harmonics. Plus with Neil you can sing notes a bit off key and still sound good Lake of Fire by Nirvana (dunno who did the original) Island in the Sun by Weezer. Easy song, sounds awesome acoustic, and relatively obscure, plus a cool little solo for the ladies. The Sweater Song. Never heard it done acoustically, but I think if you got creative with it it could rock. Good luck!
I used to play "Me and Julio down by the Schoolyard" when I'd play in Harrisburg.. It went over well..
hell yeah! probably easier to pull off than that one, "you can call me al" ...forget the title, but the whole homo-prison thing requires badass bass grooves and a very accepting audience. haha
