Well I did my dreads 2 days ago and well it was going pretty well, despite the long 9 hours it took. But my problem is my hair is relatively short ( the back is about 3/4 inches and the front about 6/7inches) and no matter how much or how tight I backcomb them they seem to keep getting looser. I've been palm rolling them aswell but to no avail. Dread wax would probably really help my dreads to lock up, but what can I say I can't afford it at the moment. Any suggestions for a home made remedy to keep my dreads tight?

haha my dreads are just like yours.. i just kept palm rolling them, sprayed them with sea salt water, and when the roots are loose, i crochet them. my hair was around that length when i started. they will get better.good dreads take good time.

i wouldnt advise to use wax cos your dreads will be too sticky and it's really hard to get rid of the residue that it leaves....just be patient and keep backcombing them and palm rolling them to make them tighter...they'll be perfect in a few months...just be patient!

Crocheting them? How do I do this? What will it accomplish?

hmm. well you put your finger or a pen or something through the roots that are growing in, and bring the dread through it . do this a few times till you feel its sufficiently tightened.

hey there girly.... dreads and short hair?! Well my hair is up to my eye.. so its pretty short.. becasue i used to have dreads and i cut them out.. i am now getting dreads again but this time i am doing them myself.. they are taking me like 4 months,. but you could do your quicker...- try using wool and rubbing it clockwise on your head.. it may hurt a little bit but thats what starts the deaddies! don't wash your hair... and try not to wet it all the time.. you want to dry it out... so try a lil sea salt.. then do the wool thing... but don't let it dry out too much because it will cause breakage. my hair is dreaded in the middle.. but the ends are straght so it might take my hair a while to do its thing... just dont wash your hair for a while.. or you could put rubber bands in your hair and back comb it in sections... either way works.. but i personaly like the wool method, and i have had 3 differnt sets of dreads.. and this one i think is the best.. its not quick like backcombing though.. just to let cha know.. i dunno emaile me if you have any questions... because i prob. have the answer..goodluck sister.. peace
