I recently went to my doctor & had a prostate examination done at my request. I was told it felt very firm & while I'm awaiting test results from a urine I had to get done as well, I'm just curious to know if a firm prostate is a good or bad result to get told about? My bladder lately has been not emptying out fully when I pee & I feel like peeing again within minutes each time. One night, at work, I had to pee at least 12 times within 5 .5 hrs. This was very distracting during work time. I will not get my urine test results back for another 2 days. It seems my prostate or something else is causing a blockage that I'm unable to fully empty my bladder each time I pee ?
That could well be the case. I had all the usual symptoms of BPH (enlarged prostate) So the doc put me on "Flomax" and later added "Avodart". Although my present doc doesn't think mine is enlarged, he has kept me on those meds which do help. Once in a while I will still have to go numerous times/day. The downside to the meds is that they affect sexual performance. How old are you?
Thanks for your reply & info ! I'm 52 & there are 3 family (males) who had a history of kidney / prostate problems. All 3 have since died thru complications within the last 15 years or so - so maybe it's hereditry? Tomorrow (Thursday NZ time) I will hopefully have my test results back.
