Hello, I am looking for suggestions for effective natural pain killers. My friend has fibromyalgia and really unhealthy teeth. She is currently waiting to see some specialists. But can not handle the pain. It becomes unbearable. Do you have any suggestions that would truly work? Some natural dental remedies even. I hope for some responses. Thanks for your time
you could check out the book "Curing Fibromyalgia Naturally with Chinese Medicine" by Bob Flaws. I haven't read this particular book, but others in the series. You may be able to get this from a library or see some content on-line. Hope that your friend feels better soon!
Kava Kava extract is available at many health food, natural remedy type stores in the form of liquid tinctures and pills and it's fairly effective at numbing and pain killing. I only have experience with the liquid tinctures, it'll give you a recommendation to take on the bottle and you should ignore that and refer to erowid or consume like a 1/4 of the bottle each time which should elicit some anesthetic numbing effects to the mouth. The taste is terrible but I've heard that mixing it in honey masks the tastes a good deal.
Cloves for sure. Make a tea or oil out of them. Marijuana is a well known painkiller, but that's not everyones thing. Willow bark, crampbark, Jamaican dogwood, and California poppy, are all great as well.
Kratom is your best friend in terms of natural pain relief. It works on your opioid receptors, but itself is not an opioid, won't show up on a drug test, it's not addicting, and you can't OD on it. Only downside is tolerance is a bitch, and you might get some nausea. It's perfectly legal though, you can get it online in capsule form (it tastes like shit) for around $20, depending on your source. I'd say start at around 5 grams.
Wow thank you all for the responses! I will look into the clove oil. Anything to stop the pain. e7m8, I have heard of Chinese medicine for this. But heard it's expensive. Would probably be worth looking into some more though. And reading the book. Stonefeather.. Yeah bud is good for that haha. But she smoke it excessively to try and numb the pain. And now has a lot of tolerance and does very little for her in that aspect. That Kava Kava sounds interesting. What are the effects of it like though? Does it just relieve pain or does it actually cause numbing? Just wondering. I will look into it. Raincoast, thank you for all those suggestions. But do they actually kill pain or just relieve it? Some I have heard of before. But have never tried any. But you suggest clove the most? I'm kind of surprised to hear kratom mentioned here. I never really thought it was that natural. When I think of it I think of that little baggy being sold at hemp shops, along with salvia and those other random drugs. Interesting though. Have lots to look into. Thanks for the responses.
I was also gonna say Kratom, though it's never worked well for me as far as pain goes, others swear by it. I'm on opiates so I don't expect it to come close. But I always keep some on hand. I think she can try peppermint tea, it's refreshing for sore mouths. She can also try salt water rinses to help with mouth pain, listerine is good for numbing. Don't underestimate the benefits of hot baths pour in epsom salts to soothe sore muscles and take hot showers to let the water hit you where you have pain. Taking a long walk with some good music is pretty soothing as well.
what is the matter with you people...who said to read a book that they themselves havnt read?...stop using your google results to answer questions...if you dont know than move the fuck on to another thread fibromyalgia[sp] the symptoms are treatable with marijuana...it is a guaranteed card in any legal state...if she dont smoke than she should eat some...
Thanks again for the responses. All are welcome to their opinion. Just as long as the replies are serious. She does smoke a lot of weed. But it no longer does anything for her. She lives in BC. Heard of some edible bi-products of it, so may try making some for her. And will also try some of what else was suggested. Still looking into it. And would prefer more of a pain killer than just a temporary number.
Here are many herbs for fibromyalgia: 5-HTP, Melatonin, St. John’s Wort, L-carnitine, and more. http://loveherbs.info/fibromyalgia-herbs/ has a list of lots more.
I have fibro. I have bad teeth. When the two hit together it is hell. Start with the teeth. There is more that works. Most of the tooth advice was good. What is she on for fibro? I haven't had great results with anything, but I find that staying active helps. But moving with a tooth abcess is damn near impossible for me. (see earlier hell comment) Massage helps IF the therapist has training in chronic pain and nerve disorders. Touch for Health has good background, so look for a therapist with that credential. Acupuncture has good results, better than herbal preparations in TCM. Dietarily, any anti-inflammatory dietary regimen will help. Not cure, but help.
Teeth: I've used nothing but baking soda plus tea tree oil for more than 20 years now. My dental problems disappeared once I gave up commercial toothpaste - coincidence? Last winter I developed an abscess and saw a dentist for the first time in two decades, not a bad record. The hygienist remarked on how healthy my teeth and gums are. I also do oil-pulling. For the fibro: it's hard to beat good ole cannabis, but I suggest meditation as well. My wife has advanced fibro, and we've tried everything. She's better off on the natural stuff.
I think clove oil can reduce pain related to teeth. And don't know any other natural remedy but I have used a homeopathic oil that I found really helpful in gums problem.
