I also have projectors but don't use them much anymore. What do you have? I have an Elmo GS-800 and ST-1200 for Super 8mm and an EIKI for 16mm.

I'm only 18, but yeah I have a record collection of roughly 50 records! Had to buy them all myself too! My parent's listened to Cassettes more I guess.

I collect mostly 60's LPS (JA, GD, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Beatles), I like some stuff from the 80s too (Smiths!!). Even some of my favorite modern bands like Radiohead release Vinyl Records though! One of them even came with a sheet of blotter paper.. :/

I go to a record shop down in Denver all the time! It seems to have gotten more trendy if you ask me, to be listen to records

I was surprised when my son mentioned the other day that a guy in Portland wanted to press 500 records of his bands latest. He explained why the sound is better, but I had no idea people still listened to/bought vinyl. I still have a bunch somewhere from the 60s-70s but I'm pretty sure I'll never have another record player.
I remember playing records, sometimes over and over so much back then, that I had to put a nickel on the arm to keep them playing. I always found it amazing that one of the hardest substances was/is used on a "soft surface" like vinyl and plays as well for as long. I guess I should dig mine up and give them to someone that would appreciate them. Don't even remember what I have.

A good way of comparing quality is to get the same music in different format (MP3/CD/Record), get familiar with it and then switch format.
If you've got half decent hardware and you're actually listening the difference should be fairly obvious.

Ideally the tonearm should be balanced to 'float' the stylus in the groove with just a little downforce weight as recommended by the cartridge manufacturer.

This penny on the headshell thing I've heard of a few times is a good way of wearing out the records. Playing A record with a proper set up does not wear it at all.

I got a record player for christmas when I was 16(4 years ago) and I have a slight collection of about 175-200 records now. I went to see my family this summer and my cousin had over 1500 records! The collection was amazing!

I really like the Cream record, I have that one on Atco, I never saw it on Polydor before? 70's/80's press? So what is shipping to the USA?....No Australian pressings? I don't think I own any Austalian presses...:2thumbsup:

That one does seem a bit obscure.

RSO catalog number on a Polydor US pressing. Polydor bought RSO in 1983 and since this has no UPC Barcode I date it to early-mid 1980s.

If you have an early ATCO to compare to my photos on Ebay you will see the ATCO has a big pink band on the front top and they have covered up the 'trippy' dilated iris eyeball on the back. This US re-issue gets the good original UK cover art reinstated.

What state in the US for postage ?
I'm not at home for a few days but I will check the details and send you a PM with postage cost for your state when I get back.

If I don't state which country it is pressed please presume it is Australia. The only Aussie pressing at the moment is the 'Tour Of Duty'.

EDIT : Just had a look at that and it's the wrong photo for that record so have removed the listing.

a great place to find secondhand vinyl is Discogs.com.

It´s very easy to find the bands/albums you are after and immediatly compare prices and quality ratings between different sellers.

Not anymore but miss them for nostalgic reasons not for practical reasons. They scratched and you had to buy replacement stylus', flip it over to the 'b' side, no repeat etc etc etc:devil:

    Not convenient, but quality.
CDs are made down to a 'Redbook' standard. MP3 even worse.
The word is Hi Res digital is very good but not around much.

I also listen to records, I have about 800 of them so far. Everytime I go to a flea market or see a yard sale, i grab whatever record I can. I have managed to obtain all of Charlie Daniels albums and most of Hank Williams, oh and tons of other country/bluegrass/folk. I agree, nothing better than vinyl!
