Mama's Dreadies!!!!!!

Just started dreading, using the twist and rip method along with some back combing 5 days in....here they are....!!!!!

This morning, after ripping but before back combing...

I don't have any tips, I never dreaded my hair (yet). I always like to see how others start here in the dreadforum :biggrin: Looks like you got great hair for it. And a very neat face too, nice to see it along with your username :2thumbsup:

I'm about to take them out for the first time since back combing

 

Just counted 30 beautiful baby dreads, bring on the neglecting right now I look so messy but who gives a damn! Think I'm gunna get some beads too

 

About 2 weeks in now...

I've added some little beads in. I can't get any good back shots but I'll get someone to take one for me soon. I'm loving it, I feel so free and more confident than ever, which is weird because all my family/friends just say I look messy and homeless, but I like it.
Just going to let them go with the flow now, I twisted and ripped on the first day and haven't really touched them since except for pulling out hairs that were uncomfortabley pulling my scalp, so I have a bunch of random stray hairs all over but I like those too I put some cheapy little cuffs on some of them just to hold the dread because they were falling apart but going back to soft normal hair

my hair would dread naturally if i didnt comb it. a long time ago i let it dread itself and had them for like a week. my mom didnt dig them though. took almost 3 hours to pick them out and it fried my hair. i had to have it cut half off to get the dead ends out.
hey gotta question: do you dye your hair?

 

yeah, its faded from a red at the moment but the ends were bleached a few months ago so are lighter. It's kind of an auburny colour with light ends right now. I've been practically every colour so I think I'll hold off the dye a while now

Mines auburn naturally but its darker than how I have it right now

 

you dyed it to make it lighter? i live in florida so mines a bit lighter than it should be cuz of the constant sun

 

Just short of a month now. I'm a cave girl in the making, literally, so messy and I'm loving every minute of it!!!!

Ignore the crap quality photo, I took it on timer on my camera so I could get a back shot, then had to take a picture from my phone of the picture on the screen of the camera because I have no camera lead.....

 

Just had a recount, last time I checked I had 30.....this time I have 41!!! I did add 3 extras a few night's ago from stray hairs around my face, bangs I guess, but that means in the past month 8 new dreads have formed themselves! So cool, and I didn't even notice

i dont brush my hair but it is too short to dread itself atm as its nearly at my chin (growing a short cut out ) but dreads will hopefully form as it grows but your hair is looking great keep up the update pics would love to see how they are coming on .
