Yes driving ability is an important thing to be aware of. I have adhd. So that interferes with my ability to concentrate. Moving to North America some 9 years ago. i also realized that driving on the other side of the road was something I would or could never get use to. So I refused to drive. Coming from Australia I gave up driving in Australia …when I realized that my concentration was so lousy. I lived in Sydney which has a very good public transport system I realized that public transport was a better way to get round. so I would encourage all cities to develop their public transport system so people can actually use it.
100yo on a harley.. sounds like a quick way to a broken hip! "100yo crushes 11 babies when hip goes out and bike falls over in front of daycare"
I took my test on a Harley , and it wasn't easy . Trying to weave between close set cones on a Harley wasn't easy . And neither was the slow box . If I had lost one more point I would have failed it . Of course it depends on your state too . Our motorcycle course was challenging with a big heavy bike built for cruising . the car test i thought was much easier . And I took it in a big ole 1970 Jew canoe Impala , no problems at all . But yeah , you would think it was just the opp.
Most of us have to put up with mandatory drug testing for work right? Age 80 and above, you should have a driver's test every year. You fail, you lose driving privileges. Its idiotic treating them the same as younger folks who don't lose skill that fast, and who realistically only need to be tested every decade. And we do it because they deserve some right to drive, even if they fail at it, just because they need their independence. They should be held to the same standards as everyone else, and due to their age and decreasing health their skills should be checked every year. Its not unfair, if they can continue to pass they can continue to drive til they're 100, 110, however long they live.
