I have been going to Target for a long time with no problem, I go in today to pay my bill at the front counter as I have done a ton of times and this lady comes up and said "Excuse me but you have to wear shoes when you come in here, Its store policy because we are liable"

I know she was not a Manager but does anyone know if Target has adopted this policy recently?? Because I never had a problem before and from what I read Target was always lax?

Target has been making tons of changes. They stopped letting the marines collect toys there during christmas season for kids and this year they killed it for the salvation army. I guess Target is just too good for everyone now.

Ive never seen anyone barefoot go into a target but ive seen shirtless people in there numerous times and ive even gone in shirtless once and in there many times with an open shirt and nobody said anything so either they dont have a rule or its a very recent one if they do because ive never got in trouble and neither has anyone else. I think target is just screwed up for not letting the salvation army collect money out in front of their property anymore, I guess they dont want certain groups to tarnish their image or whatever, guess because theyre doing so well financially that all the greed and power that comes with it is finally catching up to them.

I've done the "pretend I don't know you're calling out to me" thing and it usually has not worked.

I have gone barefoot in Target a number of times here in Florida. So far, never a confrontation. I don't shop there frequently, though, since although I hate it, Walmart (anti-barefoot) is bigger, closer, and cheaper and has (usually, anyway) a better selection. There are stores around town that are no problem barefoot, and stores that don't allow it. I don't generally go to restaurants barefoot because even though I'm very comfortable as a public barefooter, I feel it's too much of a spectacle -- that and I've been told at a couple of restaurants "no bare feet" so it put a chilling effect on me.
