All Roald Dahl books! I just found his treasury book in the library and I love reading the comments he includes. I love his dark humour in his writing! Wish there were more stories like that today.
Where the Wild Things Are was a good one. I personally loved Disney stories... it was all about the princesses
Charlottes Web ...and some of the Narnia books, particularly the Voyage of the Dawntreader (The christian symbolism was lost on us kids)
I always loved the very first Narnia book (the very first chronologically that is) The Magician's Nephew. There is a wonderful scene in it where the main characters find a forest full of pools, each of which leads to a different world.
I loved Roald Dahl books - my favourite was George's Marvellous Medicine. I use to make my own concoctions from stuff in the bathroom, kitchen, garage. good times
Oh no ... I HATED James and the Giant Peach. I just found it sad and disturbing from the first page onwards, I'm afraid. I loved the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Swallows and Amazons series of books.
