Every artist has a style So tell me yours? Mine is quite surreal, i dont draw realistic/normal things, I like to paint things that reflect how im feeling at the time without being obvious to outsiders, I like painting things that people need to really observe in order to find the meaning. I use oil paints mainly as i like the texture, but i like to use random things like wax to drip over the top, straw/hay to give a tough texture etc :daisy:
No idea, but I enjoy realism.. life's the most intensely detailed painting of all, enjoy it, live it, paint it I wanna start bringing more surreal elements into some of my work, but honestly have no idea at how to approach it so I'm just gonna go with the flow of things
I do realistic sketches that sometimes become surreal (but through surreal juxtaposition, still with a realistic style) and I like to paint with mismatched colours, in a sort of fauvist style. I want to branch off and try more new things though
I have a type of DMT style abstraction to everything including my drawings of people. I wouldn't call my style surreal, I like to think it's a little too far outside of the realm of surrealism.
Very abstract with a lot of letter forms. A bit of surrealism thrown in, but most of the time, you can't make out much of my works as having any sort of specific distinguishable objects, more so just two and three dimensional forms. I like doing fantasy type cityscapes as well as portraits too, though. I have a very fond passion for typography and graffiti and it sort of caused me to focus on something many graff artists call 'flow' in my art. Haven't heard of this term outside of that scene but I'm not one to say it doesn't exist outside of it. My sig is a good example of what I'm striving for, done by one of my favorite artists. It says Audio.
Hello everyone. I'm new to these boards. I stopped drawing and painting some years ago in favor of welding steel sculpture, but here is a piece of my work from back then. I apologize for the distorted edges. The camera I had at the time I shot this had a very short focal length. You get the idea though. This is oil on illustration board, approximately 16" x 20".
I would certainly like to know his technique for those clean white lines on that star and those stripes. Also, those reflections are fabulous.
Thanks very much. I like your work too. This piece was all brush painted. I never learned to airbrush. By the time my college offered it, I was on my way out. Sanguine, I did not mask the star or the stripes. I painted them freehand with a combination of a very small round and flat brushes. Unfortunately I don't remember the sizes. I tried masking some of the reflections in the early stages of this piece, but I was unhappy with the results, so everything was freehanded after that. From a technical standpoint, this was the best piece of work I ever did. I never rendered anything at this level again. I guess I never felt compelled to after this piece. I'll post a few pieces of steel here soo. I don't get to do much work these days. I have to work my regular job in order to feed my family. I do get something put together every now and aging though. My sculptures are all tabletop pieces right now because I don't have the studio space I need to build larger, but I have always said that larger doesn't necessarily mean better
Zebb, that's freaking awesome! You are one talented guy!! I mainly work with oil on construction board or canvas and would love to beable to do those reflections like that! I thought it was one of your sculptures at first, had to double take! Awesome :2thumbsup: thanks for sharing! Would love to see more!
Between abstrac and realistic found pleasure doing it that way . Staying in the composition rule and note putting too much rule that way I feel really free. I will post my art soon hope you will enjoy
I'm not a good artist. I do abstract mostly and basic shapes. I don't really have an eye for shape. Although I like to paint, I love getting artsy even when it looks like mud!!
I love drawing with pencils and ink (for a large part because I am clearly more talented with it than painting I just can't handle a brush to get the paint how I want it). Definately dig landscapes the most. In all kinds of styles, realistic as much as surrealistic, impressionistic, expressionistic Only kind of art I don't like a lot in is abstract, although every once in awhile there is something brilliant.
