I'm thinking of visiting Asheville in late August or early September--just wondering if anyone from there knows of anything special going on around those times. Also, any tips on nearby hiking, especially scenic trails, would be great. I've been there before, so I'm not a complete newbie. Thanks!
Love Asheville. Just went last weekend. Don't know about the hiking but check out Tall Gary's Cantina. It's on one of the main corners downtown. Not from there so don't know a lot about the streets and stuff.
cool you should have been there sunday for the titty rally! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5paZdKpvuKE&feature=player_embedded
No, I must have been there afterwards. The blue-haired woman was still there, tho--she was just leaving. I got there when the event was finishing.
I sort of got into it with her. I told her and her friend to quit posing for pictures. That defeats the purpose! I may be hosting the Go Topless event next year. I've been in talks with the organization and they want me to do a speech. But I certainly will not be POSING for pervs to take pictures!
Asheville is what you make it to be. There are the rich people that rule the town, the college kids who think they are hippies, and the really cool mountain people you could fall in love with. I go for the Psy Trance festivals, the mountains, the great escapes in the secret hills where it is not so populated, and really just to enjoy nature at it's best. Things are definitely changing there, and more political bull just like any other over populated town. Good luck and happy trails.
