Is it just me or is body modification becoming more accepted in society? In recent years I would get many dirty looks and even people telling me they hate my piercings, but now I work in a liquor store (I know liquor can attract some weirdos, such as myself) and I've had numerous customers enthusiastically ask me about my piercings. I even encouraged a fifty year old lady to get her nose pierced! :2thumbsup:
yes body modifications are more acepted. Im a guy and I have my ears pierced and tattoos on my wrist and i havent had any problems at work. BUT, there will always be people who discriminate against body modifications. But generally they are becoming more acceptable :2thumbsup:
Yeah totally agree I still get a few remarks, that I simply shrug off, because I simply don't care :beatnik:
Deff. coming more acceptable in society in general. times are changing & I think even employers are seeing it & that to get decent help they are gunna have to bend there rules a little when it come to that, just like soul hippie said most people from 18-30 have 1 of the 2. This issue has always been a thorn in my side though, because to me if you are qualify for the job, it should not matter what you look like.If you have no tattoos or 50 that should not matter. Same goes if your a male & have long hair. My husband worked 4 the same company for 5 yrs. He was up 4 a promo & they said he was not manager material because of his looks. He has long hair & a small tattoo on his hand, but yet he was good enough to train every manager & employee that walked thru the the door. to me that is just fucked up!!! Sorry I had to rant on that just a little
Don't blame you for the rant LoveBuzz. That would piss me off too! Unfortunately, people who are older don't like tattoos! Let's just give 'em another 30 years and then they will be gone and we can do what we want!
I got 5 piercings in one night about two months ago. It was not much time before that, that I would have never even considered getting just one piercing.
Looks like they were they ones missing out, over something so stupid! The rant was well said :iagree:
Honestly, people who are passed over for jobs and such because of tats and piercings dont have much room to complain. If you cant wear a t-shirt with graphics on it to your job, you cant wear them on your arm either.
I'm sorry but a t-shirt and a tattoo are two different things! T-shirts get thrown away, rip, get used as towels. They are meaningless possessions, I don't care what it has on it! A tattoo is much more personal and sentimental. It's part of your body. It can't be thrown away, it is a permanent! Whether you agree or not, tattoos are almost "religious", they mean something very important to the person that has them (whether literally or metaphorically). This thread is about acceptance, and the fact is we need to accept people with tattoos! It's a way of life. But, to play devils advocate, one should be conscious of the repercussions tattoos hold in society, some shit comes with the territory. You got to have a thick skin, pun intended!
Of course some idiots don't think before getting ink injected into their skin by a stranger and end up getting some tattoo that is meaningless and just to look 'cool' but yeah you can even compare a tattoo to a t-shirt. Ta for the support. :2thumbsup:
Even thou it is more accepting, there are still people that are disgusted. I feel like people sometimes stare at me, but I don't care, I love it. 4 Tattoos and 9 piercings (that includes plugs). I proudly present myself to be different with no care in the world, if you care what people think then don't modify your body.:sunny:
The natural course now is for anti establishment types to start removing tattoos to stick it to the man now.
