i want to just ramble, maybe live in a commune a few months, pick up odd jobs, live on a farm, on a beach, in a tent, by a steam in the woods, is it even still possible today? tips? stories? anything! the 9-5 american way is killing me!!
There are some comunes listed on this forum , you might check them out . The hobo life is a bit ruff , you want to think before leaving a 9-5 job . desert rat
I've looked at alpha farms in Oregon a good bit, sent them an email and have yet to hear back. hobo is a bit harsh for what I'm imagining, im thinking somehwere between gypsy and traveling musician w/o the whole being a musician part.
I used to wonder if it was still possible too, and I've been assuming that there are probably thousands of "hobos" these days, given the economy. I recently learned from my 20-year-old daughter that they're called "travellers" these days, and it's not only possible, it's apparently thriving among younger homeless people. One of her best friends is supposedly coming through town on a freight sometime next week.
