your dreads look great, good job with the upkeep like flessy said. I wish mine got that much attention... my kids end up distracting me everytime I get started. :)

Cool....I could use a change, mine's getting too long, so it's always tailed, so whats the point of having it long if it just bugs ya, ya know. Anyway, I'm zero on dread tech 101, if I wanted to, how would I?

man, fantastic fantastic dreads you got there man. i just shaved mine off last week. too much neglect, and all my guys joined forces to make HUGE clobs of hair. HUGGEEE uncomfortable clobs of hair. i think a headful of dreads teamed up into 4 teams =\. sleeping was too uncomfortable, and showering was impossible. but MAN, lemme tell you, sleeping now, feeling my nearly bald head upon my pillow, it's beautiful... haven't felt that in years. i dont notice myself anymore, but girls certainly do now =P.
take care of them man, they're amazing.

first off do a nice scalp rub, place your fingures on places on your scull and massage all around... get the scalp relaxed and such... then get all dreads and loose hair defined.... basicly by palm rollin each dread... have a friend who you can show how to do it before they go scopin threw your crown... Then get some sizz. take each dread at a time and cut them, cut them a lil longer then what you want because it will do a lil bit of fray action and that once dreaded up again with be a bit shorter then you might have wanted it... Cut them all to the same size or do what you want... my friend stretch when he cut his old ass locks he glued the ends of them... but his dreads are so old and awsome he only had like 10 dreads so it was easy for him to do all this, basicly no loose hair...

Thanks, looks like I'll need to find a dreadxpert to get the tech first hand.

My life story in a nut shell. Thanks David.

    Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It was getting kind of long
I could have said it was in my way
    But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
And I feel like I owe it to someone

Must be because I had the flu for Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
    It increases my paranoia
Like looking into a mirror and seeing a police car

But I'm not giving in an inch to fear
Cos I promised myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone

When I finally get myself together
I'm gonna get down in some of that sweet summer weather

I'm going to find a space inside to laugh
Separate the wheat from the chaff
Cos I feel like I owe it, yeah
Said I feel like I owe it, yeah
You know I feel---- like I owe it yeah to someone

dreads are cool.......jump on the bandwagon. just kidding, they look good on some people and ive always liked 'em, but its becoming less unique....half the forum has dreads, wants them, will have them in a week, or has had them. c'mone.......you dont have to have dreads to get attention or be a hippie. well yeah i guess you do to get attention from some people....that would judge you right off. this isnt directed towards anyone so no one jump on my ass, its just something no one wants to hear and needs to be said....and for the record, i have no problem with anyone having dreadlocks or wanting them, just thought it should be addressed how incredibly common they are....

i dont have dreadlocks for looks or fasion, when i was a child in japan i remem. lookin up at this old jap bum sittin in a chair... he said something to me and touched my hair... he has huge long congo'd up dreads that looked like dragons by the rough texture of them, by aged growth... He smiled and then just changed vision to somethin in the street and i walked away, to go to the mama son store... Where i could get felix the cat candy... I rem. thinking when i saw that man... nature.. Magic... Religion... Wisdom.. Interest.. and even art were some of the emotions i would put into words that i felt from seein that mans hair and smile... ever sence i started to draw and do art... dreads i began because of change and it was my senior year when i was graduatin.. kinda like my prize, or gift... I wear them on my head to show art and interest in religion and nature... Many times when you meet a true hippy you sence these things... nature, love, respect, art, peace, creativity.... Im stoned and just jabbering on but i hope i got some sence out of this... :D

i think everyone has their own reasons to grow dreads. yes, some do it because they think it's "cool" but why not? i've always thought about going with dreads because they have always symbolized strength and spirituality to me. you know when you see someone with dreads, that can tell much about a person's character. and to grow dreads, you have to be a unique person, that's part of what the hairstyle represents. but why bash the people that don't have a reason to?
