If not, please delete this thread. Tell ya the truth I was just looking around and fell in here and saw everything but monarchy and theocracy. I live in a theocracy and we are all glad not to exist if we don't, so believe me, our feelings won't be hurt!
I'm just a judge I am not sure if I am the best person to define this! Lol! We try to be just really nice to each other and if there is ever a question it is searched out in the writings, as opposed to having the writings as a "blind man's guide to messing it up worse" stack of laws folks aren't so good about keeping anyway. We consider it hateful, kinda deceitful and tacky to go at somebody "quothing thee word" because in reality all you have to do is look in your friends eyes and all the truth will be right there between you it's just got velocity and is a whole can of worms which can give us a bit of vertigo here and there. But literally, here is what I have to do, preceded by a perfect short example: "Aw she's a witch! We don't have to suffer her to live!" Judge: "She has poisoned you?" "Well, no" Judge: "Oh. Then she has poisoned another or livestock?" "uh, no." Judge: "Oh! Ha ha! It's your hebrew! look right here! SURELY when you look you can see the word clearly which of course to it's letter, whit and tittle means "poisoner" which did confuse me (pass me some of that wine thank you) because the trade of poisoneers and that way of assassination is not really as big of an industry as it was 2,500 years ago. (Yes. Hit please) So again by God's grace we are gathered but to celebrate, as your fair sister has been found innocent in your own eyes of that awkward crime of which you accused her, and we, have avoided judgement. Don't God nice? Let's go eat!" That is funny in our yard and courts, where you may smoke and drink and lay on pillows, but contrast it with the fact that less than ten years ago, a family couple miles down the mountain was told their house was gonna be burned with them in it - their teenage daughter was interested in wicca. Bad things happened to them until people finally moved on to make someone more interesting miserable. Hence at least the theocracy I voluntarily serve, uphold, defend and save harmless seems a lot easier to live with. I first met the family over plants and medicine about six years or so ago? It is a matriarchial clan of 30 or so spread out around the mountain. When it came up incidentally I said "Pfft! ALL y'all are witches! You got your own coven!" heh some girls you can make mad they said "We are!" We exchange medicines for foods and other goodies of theirs and I have a family like rapport. I did the wedding ceremony for that little wicca girl this last Spring. It was Zoot suits and fedora's, 20's gangster style. Sorry. Witches - In the language and by the gematria of that language, contexted in time and culture, I have to satisfy PaRDeS, the four levels of the opened scripture: Pashat= the simple meaning of the passage Remez= "let scripture confirm scripture" ie find it in more places and gain better confidence midDrash= "Homily" = how does it apply to you, in the world and at the time you are now? Sod= the hidden or secret meaning, often considered by chapter, passage, letter numbers and "whits and tittles". That's it. If it seems complicated consider this legal ditty: On the sabbath it is lawful to water an animal or rescue it from a pit (as it were) So the laws of God's very own day are loosed for mercy to a critter, much more then a person, it implies. SO, Mercy is of greater "weight" before God than law. Legally speaking. Heh But I am blessed. I am def not saying enforced theocracy - that was part of the problem! Remeber that word "voluntary", because if it gets to being anything else here in the US, Uncle Sam will come with tons of guns and rescue you. All theocratic societies in the US technically have that type of treaty with the sovereign secular government. edit: PS - I figured there would be landed covens and all kinds of other spiritual or religious groups on here and we would get a lot of interesting pictures of sacred life in places and societies. Not only a larger world for all but irreverently speaking, really really great trade in really great stuff typically!
Repete' _ I FIGURED OTHER sacred societies would be happy to shaer with us the basics of how they "survive" it and navigate, like the pagan coven that lives a couple hours north of us and makes mead. I think they are small enough to be just basically tribal even though that is theocentric in a believer community or spirit giuded one. SO PLEASE share the beauty of your law or lack of it with us, you might have a better idea that would help?
Absolutely not. In a theocracy the government officials take directions from "god". Surely anyone can figure out why this is bad juju. Our founders certainly did. Thus the reason for separation of church and state. Of course, if anyone has paid attention there are a great many political leaders who think along the lines of a theocracy. They are usually ultra right wing "tea bagger" types like Bush, Sarah Palin, Romney...etc. Or in the case of my own state lawmakers, one made the statement recently that Darwin made up the theory of Evolution but that creation was a theory that should be taught in school and it's not made up...not like evolution is. HAHA. That's a theocracy for you. In a theocracy in the USA forget women's rights, reproductive rights, freedom of speech, press and forget even thinking about gay rights.
This forum is about theocracies, not debating them. Your opinion is your own but I would rather live as I am than try to make it out there right now. The governments you seem to champion make up lots more and have exceeded the theocratic models in the things you seem unhappy about? You have not one shred of proof that democracy, the "joke" of history, is one bit better? But like I said, this forum is for people living in such to share with each other their lives - we are allowed to do that under your rule aren't we? Isn't the democracy expiring anyway? They historically only last a couple hundred years pretty much? I will give ya this: You said "juju" in a total juju forum! Lol! OF COURSE WE ARE.....bwahahahahaa! and this? "In a theocracy in the USA forget women's rights, reproductive rights, freedom of speech, press and forget even thinking about gay rights" You are VASTLY uninformed and dwelling in a seemingly angry poverty of actual knowledge.
God damn, I've found somebody online from a more backwards place than where my grandparents lived! I thought that shit was only in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Utah, in the US. FYI, theocracy only counts if it's the law of the land, like in Islamic countries, or Catholic countries like Mexico. What you're talking about is more like a religious commune.
Hmmm...it depends more on how the government defines or rather, identifies you. It is the US and the government retains sovereign power. I suppose it is a backwards place, but again, we live separate from that on our own acres. It is our law here because that is the law of the land. I doubt anyone would live out here unless they were having a good time. You seem to lump everything without distinction? You're suggesting thousands of people regionally and culturally different all share the worst of something vague? I think it kinda comes down to happiness and a sense of fulfillment. I'm not an illiterate psychotic wretch that keeps women in barns and forbids antibiotics? I design and manufacture superior medications. From seed to bedside if need be but typically from primary materials of ours or outsourced. But really, it's not about venting or debating at a second grade level - it's about all the people who have religious or spiritual headquarters in the US and anywhere to be like friends. I was hoping you had read that....
You can't make you own goddamn laws. You live in the USA, you are subject, like it or not. You and your friends want to live in a fantasy "theocracy" I have no problem, as long as it you're not endangering children or holding folks hostage, or doing ritual sacrifice and such... lol Children should never be considered 'volunteers', they are subject to authoritative pressure (that gives way to peer pressure) like any religion... the whole "we let them chose when they are old enough" is BS, what is really meant is 'chose the way you were taught or you fail' If you had said sarcastically that you live in a theocracy because you live in the deep south where evangelical values are creeping into public policy I would have given a grim head-nod, but coming here and proclaiming you live in a legitimate theocracy is completely bogus. 'Religious commune' or possibly even 'cult' is probably more accurate.
"Zombie Wolf" seems pretty accurate and that is why we live here and no, as far as I am aware we don't meet the identification guidelines on enough points to be a cult, the boys lived when and where they wanted to when I had them - town or here? They seemed to enjoy themselves and I am sorry you are a world's foremost authority on something you don't even care about or live (you shouldn't even be in here trolling after it's been repeatedly made clear this is a sharing forum for like-minded typish anyway folks and not some random mouthpiece tough guy to just insult others with no real knowledge or reason? I mean, I can outswim, out fight and out fuck you anyday and I'm nearly fifty! Don't be jealous haha - if you want to make up your own "cult" where everybody has to do what you say and believe what you think but you still have yet to say one accurate, experienced, non-hostile or non-vague thing? I live a pretty happy, loving life and would really appreciate it if you would take your less than knowledgeable and accurate hostile self on over to the "nya-nya I'm pissed and miserable so EVERYBODY HAS TO BE thread and bitch about happy, free rather-be-friends people there till you puke haha You can have all the interfering, negative fit all you want man, you aren't going to be able to hurt people that way whatever their faith from wiccans to rastas, who belong and have earned their place through love and sharing or by whatever terms their society is founded on. God's the boss o me, neener-neener, the government knows that and we share in the same essential treaty all faiths are entitled to - who do more with their life than trolling around trying to be the boss of people and make 'em miserable on purpose - like you have been accusing us, heh Now I am REALLY glad I am not a prisoner of whatever fascist ass place you must live in! EDIT - couldn't resist - as far as you generalised and without reference or point of actual merit statement about the South? We do have guys (too many) that seem like you. It actually IS the Federal thing that covers us and gives the local boys guidelines to go by. Heh just so ya know there really is plenty of dumb, who-cares-about-anybody-else's rights bullies in case you get lonely, but here they mostly have a woman looking after them.
lulz, you've not been around this 'POLITICAL FORUM' much have you? Not trolling, just callin' em as I see's 'em... leather-up man, If you wanted 'like-minded' you should have posted in the 'sanctuary' forum.
Why should I have to? The posts have been clear and don't tell me to "leather up" because you made yourself out a mouth loser stinking up a thread you don't personally like. You have no merit or value here, you're just being a childish troll. You came in and said "losers" and as it turns out - you're the only one who's fitting the description. Grow up. Better yet, just go have fun vetching and being miserable in a forum where people who it really doesn't even matter what they say, love to waste their lives pretending it does.
