Who among you have heard about the male pill? I know I hadn`t until today. Apparently it`s been commercialized in China, it is very reliable and has no side-effect.

The pill was presented in a meeting in Budapest, and feminists protested outside alleging that it would take the power away from women of using pregnancy to ensnare men financially.

The other factor is that the pill is based off cotton seed, and therefore it would be cheap to make and pharmaceutical companies have little interest in it.

Unfortunately, the article I read this in is in Portuguese. I`ll leave the link here just in case, though I doubt many of you will be able to follow: http://minilua.com/pilula-anticoncepcional-masculina-voce-favor-ou-contra/

If anyone can find information in English, it would be greatly appreciated. Equality my ass!

    Holy shit!

I would feel so much better having sex with my boyfriend if he was on the pill as well as me, double protection.

(Also if you use google chrome to view the page it will translate it into English)

This broke as a news story last week.
Haven't met a single woman that thinks it's a bad thing.
    Most are enthusiastic about it.

I feel sad for you and any woman you come into contact with.

In other news, there are various other herbs that can be used as a birth control for men, but it is nice to have that official approval, commercialism and news story, so we all feel like some technological advance has been made, particularly because people are afraid to do their own research and need a government to say "yes this is okay, we approve".

How surprising that you threw in a misogynist jab towards the female gender in your thread title.

If my boyfriend wanted to take this I would be perfectly happy. I don't like the pill; I don't like messing with my hormones like that

I`m sure they used an euphemism or another, as feminists are wont to do.

But, really...why would anyone protest a scientific development that gives men as much reproductive agency as women? Especially, having in mind women are the sole beneficiaries of divorce and reproductive laws in western societies?

well you have to admit pregnancy has been and is so far the sole responsibility of females, in that they have the ultimate control over it. i see how this new development can take the control of pregnancy away from women and in that sense i also see why they're out making noise about it. it obviously hit a nerve with certain females. no more 'i have the last say'. makes sense then.

This only proves my point that equality is not the goal here. 'Equality' or 'difference' is nothing but trying to get one leg up.

To use the words of girlwriteswhat on youtube, "...feminism and chivalry have always been strange bed fellows."

equality has never been the point of feminism from the beginning. the point of feminism has always been to elevate women to a higher status than men, they just mask it under 'equality'. what feminists and most people really don't get, is that men and women are not equal and could never be equal. physiology dictates that and that is unchangeable. you can go out on the street and protest all you want but you can't change the laws of biology, and denying them just makes you a hypocrite. which is what most feminists are anyway.

After much befuddlement and disappointment trying to interact with women on an equal basis, I have come to a similar, though less sweeping conclusion.

.....none that do shit in a reliable way, or are remotely studied, afaik.

Yeah, I've heard of this. And yes, we know, feminists are generally dispicable people, with little understanding of their own species, social life and reasons for it or ways to change it, respect for anyone or anything, or really anything except a thirst for power.

So yeah.... feminists are generally bad people, and that's about all I have to say about them.

They have all sorts of poisonous things to say about the birth control pill (designed by men, for women to take... etc etc) but they resent things that give men this power as well.

.......I'd like me a lil' snip..... at some point in the next few years.

Valid points at the top. In certain circles it is easy to see the validity of various methods, but usually only through knowing and trusting people who have passed down methods from generations...anyway.

About feminists though...I think you have no clue what a feminist is. Not all feminists have the same ideas or believe in the same things. That's just like saying all vegans want to kill meat-eaters, or all Atheists hate Christians.

I participate in a community of feminists and I can't think of any of them who are freaking out about the use of birth control for men or women. Feminists are people who want to have sex just like everyone else.

People who hate birth control pills are usually people who have had negative side effects from them and seen better ways to care for these issues, and yeah it is disturbing that children are put on birth control pills at such an early age, but it's no different than children being put on ritalin and anti-depressants when there are much better options to deal with the issues.

Feminists are people who believe that one gender is superior to, and/or should be in charge of, another..... just like the name says.

I suggest the amazing atheist's youtube videos on the subject, he hit the nail on the head..... as he tends to do.
