We are artists, and musicians, and lovers of art and music. We gather in the National Forest around the country, exploring the creative process, while learning to live and work with whatever materials we have at hand to feed ourselves, and everyone around us. We follow traditions that go back at least to 1972 practicing our rights to peacably assemble, welcoming all, at no charge. Everyone contributes in their own way. Some come to serve, some come to be served. Some bring food, some cook it. One thing I can think of that binds us all, is "Free Food in the Woods." This can be heard echoing through the forest, wherever we gather, and that idea follows us out of the woods and into the world. There are many kitchens that travel across the country feeding people everywhere they go, all driven by donations. Another common phrase you might hear is "there aint no nation like a donation, there aint no city like generocity, you don't gotta be a rockafeller to help a fella, you don't gotta be a baller to spare a dollar." Out of the abundance and the kindness of the people of this land, we feed everyone who is hungry. If there are three of us, and one slice of pizza, we pass it around. If there are 20 pizzas, we go looking for hungry people! We do not sell food. Or if we do, it might be "one for a dollar, two for free. Three for 5 bucks, or I'll give you a sandwich and a dollar." Some of the North East Rainbow Gatherers (NERG) are holding a fundraiser event to raise money to create a mobile kitchen, which would have the capacity for cooking and feeding at all times, as well as to house the equipment to set up and implement free food kitchens in the national forest, and at all types of not for profit events. This event is to be an open forum for artistic expression. Inviting artists of all mediums, and having bands from as many genres and different cultures as possible. We intend on providing stages for musicians, and for speakers and presenters on many different topics. We are looking for donors and sponsors to help us put on this event. We would be more than happy to promote your brand, \ product or website. In the 8 weeks we’ve been on facebook 4 of those weeks our page reached 10,000 individual IP addresses. You can be as much a part of this as you want, we do hope you will consider donating to this cause. All of the people putting this together are volunteers. All of the 100s of bands, and artists who are interested in performing at this event will be donating their time. However, some of them will require help with their expenses. We have artists and musicians coming from across the country. Most of the North Eastern states will be very well represented. There are already a number of reputable bands and artists committed to this show from Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and all around NY. Western New York is going to be particularly well represented. We are creating a stage for DJ's and all sorts of Electronic music, specifically to feature Western NY's electronic scene. We also plan to have an Open Stage, for anyone to play on. Each of the stages is to run for 72 hours, or for as long as there are artists to perform, and people to run the sound equipment. Basically what we are looking for help with is this: - Sound Equipment Rental. - To help pay for a venue. - Permits, and insurance - Portable Toilets. Our fundraising goal is $5000 by the beginning of September. That would enable us to pay for the whole show up front, which means every donation we get at the gate could go directly towards the cause. A mobile kitchen could cost as much as $30,000 between a school bus\RV, and commercial kitchen equipment. Which means if 600 people contributed our $50 recommended donation, and we paid for the show up front, we could reach our goal (even if we only raised $3000 from the event we could acquire an inexpensive vehicle which would put us that much closer to the Mobile Kitchen.) Any way you can help us with this goal of creating art, and feeding the hungry would be greatly appreciated. forthcomingexperience@gmail.com is the pay-pal address associated w the fest right now.
