Yes we are against unfairly produced products and police brutality outside, but support such practices by buying unfairly made stuff because it is the cheapest that is available. Most of us only hate the cops until we are the victim of a crime because we need them to get justice done. So we are all pro security, pro-police state, pro third world expoitation, right wing nutters. What is your take on that?
Your economics lecturer must have visited my town before coming to this conclusion... :willy_nilly: :leaving:
I think he raises a good point, in that we do spend recklessly and are highly to blame for our own, and others' misfortunes; but there are a lot of other factors involved there. But I don't agree with the other claims at all.
If the majority of goods bought were local then prices of local goods would be lower and wages would be higher. And I don't really agree with the pro police state comment. Most of us recognize the necessity of a police force. We just want them to do their jobs and not abuse their power. According to my right wing nutter brother all professors are really liberal sheep hell bent on indoctrinating our youth.
You just discovered that we are all egocentric sumbitches? You know what this comes down to? Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. You think you could afford ANYTHING without cheap labor from I don't know where?
