No threads for MPFC yet?! Are there any other fans of it on here? Who's your favourite Python and what are your favourite sketches and/or lines from various sketches?
I'm an enormous Python fan!! I got the DVD box set for my birthday last year and I watched the whole thing within a month or so. They're all extremely talented and each have their thing... but I find myself giggling the most at Micheal Palin. He's just too bloody funny! As for favorite skteches... it's so hard to narrow it down! I usually end up seeing sketches I'd forgotten about and realizing they're on my list. Some include Bicycle Repairman, The Existence of God Boxing Match sketch, Confuse-A-at, philosophers' soccer match, the contact lenses sketch, the sketch where Graham Chapman enters John Cleese's office with a fake nose and the doctor (Cleese) ends up inviting him on a camping trip... don't know what that one's called but I laughed my head off when I saw it! There are way too many more. I'm bound to pop back in soon to list some more. There are too many to remember.
I actually just got done watching that episode! The name of the sketch is 'Cosmetic Surgery', and Graham's name is spelt Raymond Luxury Yacht, but it's pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.
I just got the boxset too! (birthday prezzie from my wonderful sister!) I will have to go with the famous... Deja Vu, Ministry of Silly Walks and Upper Class Twit of the Year Awars for my favorites!
oh man i love the search for the holy grail my fav line is "I fart in your general direction your father smelt of elderberry and your mother was a hamster." also the life of brian is a good sketch as well... funny as hell
Monty Fan since the very early 70s and still are. The funny part is our public television station who first show Monty in the early 70s well not dare to air Monty this days becouse is not morally or political correct .
It's funny to think that M-P-F-C was only a short lived BBC-TV programme from 1969-1975. It really 'took off' in America & Canada pretty much after the team had split up.Hence they were brought back together for the films & Hollywood Bowl concert etc.
There are sooooo many great sketches in the BBC shows. The Dead Parrot Sketch The Piston Engine The Penguin on top of the Television The Uninvited Guests How not to be seen All the Gumbys How to put your Budgie Down The Lumber Jack Song
Some of the scenes are still quite funny but like Two Ronnies many of the themes covered were taboo then but are no longer taboo such as being a transvestite. Much of what is in the two films: The Holy Grail and The Life of Brian is still relevant today.
