When first hearing news of this, it would seem these police officers are out of control; like they aren't even trying to make up credible explanations.

The article linked below gives a bit more info.

The guy had a warrant from another state.

The officers involved were put on administrative leave. Why?

This is what was reported.

"As protocol, he was handcuffed behind his back, double-locked and searched," said Jonesboro Police Department Sgt. Lyle Waterworth in an interview with WREG-TV .

Just minutes later, police said they heard a thumping noise, turned around and found Carter shot in the head.

Waterworth said he thinks Carter pulled out a hidden gun and shot himself."

Next I found this story that says "That is until they found Carter bleeding, a gun lying near him. Officers say they searched him twice before the shooting, never finding a gun."

However, I don't see that as a quote from the officer, just written by the reporter.

Then I found the most detailed article yet, saying "Carter was sitting in the police car, and when police learned he had an outstanding warrant, Marsh had Carter "exit the patrol unit, placed him into handcuffs, searched him a second time then placed him into the back seat of the patrol unit."

As the two officers walked back toward the police car, Officer Baggett said a car passed and then he heard "a loud thump with a metallic sound." After questioning and releasing the other two men, Officer Marsh reportedly returned to his unit while Officer Baggett said he prepared to leave the scene. He then heard "several thumps" on his trunk and saw Officer Marsh motioning for him and saying that Carter had shot himself.

They opened the rear passenger door and found him in a "sitting position slumped forward with his head in his lap." According to Officer Marsh, Carter's hands were still cuffed behind his back and small-caliber handgun was found beside him."

It will be interesting to see if people respond to this like they did the police shootings that killed men in San Francisco, Anaheim, and Dallas recently.

 

WoW what a crock of shit if ya ask me. How does one shoot themself in the head while in cuffs? I highly doubt there will be any riots since it's Ar. Non-local,no clear race or gang motives etc.etc. Nice post though and great follow up story links. Stay Classy Folks

It amazes me just how lazy the police have become with their b.s. stories. It won't be long before they probably stop giving them at all and just arrest anyone who questions them when they kill someone.

I've read some comments on this story in other places.

One theory is that if he stashed a gun between the seats the first time he was in the car, he may have been trying to shoot the cuffs off and accidentally shot himself in the head. Bullet trajectory should tell us where the shot came from. Finger prints and the type of gun/bullet wound should tell alot too. Also, who was the gun registered to?

 

Wow, sounds they straight up murked this guy! Also looks like the media has the story all mixed up, as usual. I wonder if that's a good or bad thing for the cops. There are so many things wrong with this, I hope they are doing a hush hush internal investigation at the least.

The guy was double handcuffed.. your hands are behind your back its not like you can just reach in your pockets and start shooting.. If he was going to shoot the handcuffs off himself then what? Do they cops just leave the backseat doors open. Its not like the inside of the cop car in the back seat have handles on them.. Or atleast the cop car i was in didn't have handles on the inside of the back seat. None of it makes no sense to me. I don't see how you can shoot the cuffs off of you while your cuffed without shooting atleast your own hands or back...

This is so so fucking wrong! Even worse is that a whole load of peeps will believe the arresting officers interpretation of events. What makes some people think that because someone is in uniform or in a position of authority or trust that they will not be lying, covering up the truth or acting dishonourably?

 

The bullet was lodged in his right temple but guess what he was left-handed something the cops didn’t know

If I was going to shoot myself in the head (especially in the temple) I’d use my dominant hand

he wasnt executed..he had the gun but stashed it in the seat the first time in the car...then they pulled him out and searched him and put him back into the car where he already had stashed the gun...he accidentally shot himself in the beaner or on purpose..whatever...no way cops did this

This doesn't seem right to me at all. I hope they find conclusive evidence on this. Something to PROVE it. To make people see that cops are not always the heros they are made out to be.

I am not a cop hater by any means but I have seen the bad side. They beat the shit out of my blind and cognitively slow husband. He deserved to get arrested but he did not deserve to be kicked in the head and thrown into walls while there (he was cuffed during it). I told the officers while they were arresting him that he had brain surgery and they were okay with him. The officers at the jail? No. He came home with bruises and a swollen head! WTF?

 

Dafuq is up with the popo lately? That's a bunch of shit friend taking their frustrations out on your disabled husband like that. So many injustices in the world so sad :'(
