Kinda boring, but its a lot of fun to do. Here's me climbing a 220ft tower to adjust some equipment at the top. It gets a little "dicey" at about 5:00 minutes because I have to unclip, step out, and then mantle the antenna array before I can continue climbing to the top... http://youtu.be/wEaiRUHPWoI
Its kinda addicting, isn't it? I'm a manager for the Service Center here, but I take every opportunity to get out into the field and climb towers.
Damn Dave! I stood on the top rung of a 40 foot ladder to power wash a two story A-frame wood roof. I've sat on the edge of a 9 story building to do some repair and stood on a plank a couple of storys up over waves crashing on rocks to nail shakes on mansard roofing---but I would NOT climb that tower!!! Not unless it had a cage up the tower enclosing a ladder, safety belt or not. That is scary.
thats not that high scatcho.. It looks and feels high,. its rather secure, like climbing the top of a bridge. its not going anywhere.. yes it was addicting. however these jobs require you to be drug free., I can do that. but i likes to get high on the ground now..
If any of you are interested, here's another tower we climb on a fairly regular basis. The other climber you see in this one is my friend and employee, George. We're at 265ft installation antennas... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWs0jTG6lZ8"]Jackson-Butte Tower, Amador County - YouTube You get a good shot of the ground below at one point when I climb up and swing out from the tower structure...
Dave,I don't know how you drag that 40 pounds 'a balls up there!!!! I guess for a roofer for over 40 years ,I shoudn't be so afraid of what you guys are doing----BUT I IS!!!!!!
remember Cliffhanger, when that chicks carabiner gave way.. Or Ace Ventura, when the raccoon died cause the carabiner gave way. ...
I could never do that in a million years! Just watching those vids made me dizzy. Kinda like those people who do the sky diving vids...freaks me right the fuck out!
watching those makes me dizzy too for some reason. however when Im up high, I dont feel vertigo. Thats an odd phenomena I noticed with myself.. I suppose some other drug is released in the brain to counter that. Sitting in the house Im not worried for my life..
For some reason your video doesn’t do justice to name the name tower When I think of the name tower I think of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Tower of London, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, even the Texas Tower or the few I’ve visited like Mystery Tower in Newport RI, Norumbega Tower (near Brandeis University) or Devil’s Tower in Wyoming (although not manmade) but still a better illustration than some cell phone tower in the middle of bumfuck USA Norumbega Tower Weston MA built in honor of the vikings who landed in 1000 AD Hotwater
Good God! That made my bones hurt and my stomach lurch. It's some scary shit. I didn't think that tower would ever quit going up. It is a beautiful view....if I could quit wanting to throw up.
**Damn...hoping Calgirl would be willing to have some nekkid, sweaty, primal sex at the top of that crow's nest with Dave someday....<sigh>**
willing yes, nekkid yes, sweaty yes, primal yes. But at the top of that crow's nest...no way, no how, no never. Keep me on the ground....(literally).
