2012 In'tl Gathering- Caravan?

We are a family of five coming out of Oklahoma, hoping to meet up with a caravan traveling south at the beginning of December for the gathering in Palenque. I just wouldn't feel all that safe traveling with two pre-teen children through Mexico without other family around, as none of us are experience with roadtripping internationally.

If anyone else will be coming through converging somewhere in Texas, let's set it up! The more family the better. Please let me know.

So far all I can find about the international gathering is a whole lot of questions and basically no answers. Everyone wants to go, no one knows how to get there or what's going to happen with it. Any and all information is welcome. Beyond the one obvious site on the Google search (which makes it sound awesome but still has little info), we are really wanting to go but a bit in the dark about it all.
