Central Pa Off=Grid farm seeks partner to finish + enjoy life Hello readers SEE PROGRESS + NEW PICS below: I am middle aged seeking another wilderness minded person who wants to partner with my farm + the 1800’s home I bought with 6 acres in Central Pa. 50 miles N of Harrisburg, Pa. at the base of a 2000 ft Appalachian mountain. The farm is surrounded by larger farms yet located in a wooded section. I have trout streams running through 3 acres of my 6 acres. I have a creek running along my garden + house + a yr round hand dug well + a spring in basement of my home. I myself have been doing farming + forestry work since 1972. I started a recycling center in 1975 in Redway, N. Calif + have built green homes in Philly pa burbs in the 80’s / 90’s + planted many fruit trees + organic gardens around the USA + have left them for others to keep working as I moved on to do other places. Now I am finally settling down. I have found the Amish / Mennonite farming region of central pa to be one of the last best clean places where the weather is seasonal + land, water is clean (4 counties south of any Marseilles shale drilling). I am into recycling, conservation + utilizing the earths natural heat. This house has a fireplace in the basement, a wood cook stove in kitchen + parlor stove in living room. It has 4 bedrooms upstairs + legal outhouse outside. I want to build a sauna + well house for winter use. I am almost OFF-GRID with only 14.00 a month in electric bills. I built a root cellar in the basement. I want to build an icehouse someday. I would like platonic people who want to do positive work + make this farm self sufficient. I dislike cigarettes + lazy people. If your a simple country person we will get along well. I am easy going. I have lived with all kinds of people, except for rednecks which are not my cup of tea. Note: I am care giving my 89 yr old mother here, so for security I do not list my actual location online. I do not have many visitors + the ones who do come are mostly family or neighbors. I did have one woman come here but she was too much of a city girl for this farm. I rather the next person make a decision to stay a while before they even come here. My pictures + blog explains enough for a person to make a comfortable decision before coming here. We are a rustic wilderness household still using outhouses + chamber pots + hauling our water. http://directory.ic.org/22661/Central_Pa_Mountain_farm___for_Hip_open_minded_people
Well i just had a 33 yr old teacher from belgium visit here and she left in one day. She says she is not use to using a 5 gallon bucket and sawdust to deal with her poo and pee. lol.. i also had a 27 yr old from the city who left the same day because he wanted to go back to college. He felt he had learned his lesson and wanted city life again. lol mom and me love it here. I can't understand why people can't use a porta potty seat over top a 5 gallon bucket to pee or poop in. We do it and well i guess the youth today are too spoiled.. My garden is growing great with all the recent rains i had to give buckets of tomatos and peppers and squash away to my amish neighbor. well its back to finding people who are rough and tough and love the rustic lifestyle.. we shower out front with the garden hose and in winter we use wash basins.. hey we are in the prettiest place in central pa with great neighbors.. hey i don't smoke herb here and no ciggs so thats a no no here when its legal thats another story.. be well enjoy life.. we do
Oh i did build the wellhouse and the loghouse outhouse which is cool.. see pics at my site http://directory.ic.org/22661/Central_Pa_Mountain_farm___for_Hip_open_minded_people
your offer looks good too me, i use a 6-gallon flushable porta-potty from sears and can't live without my camper will be abandoned on the side of the road and i will be walking away carrying my porta-potty LOL!!! I have been through that area many times and would love to visit but would need a partner of my own to stay longer!!!!
I may be interested, it would be me and a good friend, if that would be okay. we're in our early to mid 20's, we have some to learn, but over-all we have lived this way for a time.
and who are you and the friend? I rather deal with one person at a time. The dynamics with two are not very good for me. Imagine if you had two against one visiting you? I have a mother to care for too so this is not a party site.. no drugs or ciggs here
