My heels are always split... My big toes occasionally peel, usually in the summer when I start barefooting more, and it hurts. I use goldbond lotion, and it seems to help.

I've very cracked heels, soles and toes. In the past they used to get a bit sore when dry but now the skin is so thick I think it's just superficial. My soles look a bit like elephant skin

I got this recommendation from a doctor friend in South America who never, ever wears shoes. For cracks, use a cream that has a high concentration of urea. The only one I have found in the US is Flexitol brand Heel Balm, available at Walgreens. Although it is expensive, it is on sale for half-off a couple times a year. It is the urea which does the work. Just a few days of using it at night, usually solves most of my problems. I scrape my heels every couple of weeks after showering, using a regular Bic razor, to keep the callus from becoming so thick that it forms cracks. I just remove a thin layer, not a lot--whatever comes off easily after the shower.

If I do get a painfully large crack, I super-glue it back together. But oddly, I have not had to do that since I returned to the US from Germany. Having tried every brand on the market, I found Duro brand super-glue is the best available in the US and Pattex Blitzmatic, manufactured by Henkel the best in Germany. If you are new to using super-glue, I recommend buying a tube of the antidote or "remover" for super-glue, as it is quite easy to glue your fingers to your foot until you get some practice. I put a stripe of glue into the crack, then hold the crack together for a couple minutes while it begins to set. It takes a good half hour to an hour for the glue to set completely; if you do any serious walking on it before then, the crack will just open up again. One application was good for about 3 days of walking a minimum of 70 minutes a day in Germany. After a week or two, even large cracks became small enough that they were no longer a problem.

Nothing major but I suppose it's all part of being sans shoes!

I generally don't have a problem with heel cracks, but I do have cracks between the toes and my skin will peel. If I am bf, it usually isn't too bad, but if I wear any footwear, then I have to wear socks with them.

    Any suggestions that may help?

No longer have foot problems, used neem oil, soak n scrub those bastards with fine/medium sand paper. moved on to tea tree oil (smells better) ,was useds in medic pacs across austriallia durring WW1. neem & tea tree oils are anti fungal; antibacterial oils. high blood glucose can sometimes agrivate skin conditions(fungus).will make feet baby smooth after several months of treatment.scrub your nails n cuticals also...birthday suit is only to be dry cleaned, read tag for ironing instructions.
