I'm heading back to the USA in a week for some time off. Will be flying Lufthansa from Cairo to Frankfurt and on into Houston. I have done this trip before barefoot but it was with KLM and the Dutch seem to be a bit tolerant of such things.

    Anyone else flown Lufthansa barefoot?

And, since I have had this discussion before in other barefoot venues, I understand the risk in case there is an aircraft emergency and we have to de-ass the plane. I'm an ex-firefighter and also have been through ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) and I'll take my chances.

  3. I know this goes against the principles of some barefooters (BARE FEET ARE BY DEFINITION BARE), but barefoot sandals work extremely well. "Fool the eye," and fool the person!

European airlines have no rules against barefooting in their conditions of carriage.

I have flown Lufthansa many times barefoot. Only once did a woman flight attendant start to say something, then got distracted by a question from another passenger. Otherwise, no problems. Most of the time, my wife ran interference for me, by staying right in front of me, more-or-less hiding my feet, but I really do not think that was necessary. Except for teenagers, Germans are the most tolerant of bare feet of anywhere I have been.

Good experiences barefoot with Lufthansa, but bad with KLM. Greetings: Toivo
