What is your guess at the percentage of hippies who do not use drugs? I want to start a local 'Drug-free Hippies' Movement. Any events would be (voluntarily) drug-free. I would'nt expect a lot of people to join in, but a small, stable group would be fine with me. I feel that drugs have hijacked the Hippie experience.
Isn't being hippie about freedom and love? So wheres the freedom if you can't take whatever you want?
'Hippie' = Peace and Love and Self-freedom. ' Freedom' is Taking drugs OR Not Taking Drugs. There is no 'common' definition of 'Hippie' anywhere. A group of drug-free hippies have the right to assemble (Freedom), just like the drug using hippies. Nobody has a say in whether they can or cannot gather as a group.
i dont see anyone questioning your rights to assemble, i believ the question for me is, are you attempting to dictacte or regulate ones euphoria? we have a government that already does that, and the popularity in my opinion is not favorable for a hippie to have thier euphoria dictated, i lived through the 60,s to this date, and i consider most all the folks i was and continue to be around very stable....
