All I want to do is get smashed and have a good time with friends. Is this the wrong drug for me? Obviously I have no experience with it

yes, LSD is the wrong drug for that

i have had several trips where it is basically a good time with friends, but there are drugs much better suited for that purpose: like alcohol, or cannabis. maybe mdma.

LSD doesn't HAVE to be about enlightenment, but it's not purely fun and games either. and i think that people that take it for that reason (to get smashed) often have an unpleasant trips.

mdma is the drug for you. smoke a joint or two while rolling and you'll have a great time.

There is some recreational potential with LSD and it can be fun with friends but sometimes profound trips are unavoidable with it. MDMA is also usually very enjoyable with friends, and generally more of an easy going experience.

But when I think of getting smashed, I think of things that dull awareness of your surroundings and such so maybe like alcohol, disassociatives, opiates may be more what you're looking for.

On LSD I cannot avoid having some sort of enlightenment. It IS fun, but I don't think it's exactly what you're looking for. I agree with most people here in that when people take acid to get "fucked up" (usually not understanding how it works in the brain) tend to have "fucked up" trips. Take care.

Just keep taking the LSD dude, you either will one day realize you hate it and never want it again, or you will wake up one day and feel what many call "enlightenment" in this case. There are many terms for what psychedelic drugs can do to you, but yeah, youll come around if you keep comin around.

Of course LSD is great fun with friends.

But enlightenment is part of that fun.

If you want to get "smashed", LSD is NOT the drug for you. Smashed implies general stupidity where you don't care about anything but how smashed you are, etc..... LSD makes it all very real, and you will have a very bad time examining your motives for drug use if you try to use it they way you're asking about.

However, I think you'd really take a shining to DMT, That stuff gets you sooooo smashed.....

    Take LSD.
    Become enlightened.
Realize all you ever wanted was enlightenment.

I know what you mean, but you can't force enlightenment.

People who have really bad times seem to drop ALL drug use........ in favor of alcohol.

You have to know what you're getting into, those who want to get smashed don't think there's anything abnormal about being stupid, but if they realize how stupid they're being, and are totally lucid, then they think they're going crazy, have panic attacks, etc.

For people who know what they're in for and want the experience, a trip that gets hard is okay. For people who want to get smashed, nah....

I would recommend to most people to stop getting smashed. Once a person sees things for what they are, sometimes they completely discontinue use of things like alcohol or other substances used to simply get smashed with no meaning.

One cannot say any night they had was 'epic' on alcohol, especially if everyone else was drunk. This night was simply people acting stupid and out of control. I had a truly epic night on LSD on summer solstice. We all were peaking just at the end of sunset where there is still visible sun in the west and visible stars in the east. The visuals and the meanings and the symbols and the epiphanies and the fact that this was shared with friends made that night epic.
Perhaps this wasn't a night I tell stories about as much as people talk about their drunk 'adventures', probably because there weren't drunk decisions to make fun of, but that night was much more important to me than the night my friend passed out in a park and another friend had to be brought home by a neighbour after passing out on her bbq and slicing his neck open when we were drunk.

I agree that if you try LSD you will likely see how stupid getting smashed really is. Basically the only reason I ever did was because of peer pressure, I wouldn't have friends if I never went to parties and parties are insanely idiotic if you are the only one sober among complete drunk morons. At least if you get drunk you become numb to this.

I did it psychedelics mostly for visuals and mindfuck, 'enlightment' if you want to call it this way, came by itself.

I think that it's healthy to do psychedelics for the fun, but you still must have the proper view of the fun.

The interest in enlightenment usually comes later, because it's a thing you must feel to believe or understand.

But if you are not willing to accept it from the start, if you want to live in a bubble of smashed, you will not have a good time on psychedelics, unless you take a massive dose that breaks down any sense of resistance, which could cause huge, but positive, personality changes. Or general insanity in a bad way, if it doesn't quite break enough down.

It's very dangerous to have people who want to get fucked up and have the wrong idea about controlling trips taking psychedelics, especially repeatedly, at a level that they think they can "handle". Really bad shit happens to their mind, IME.

You don't need to start with a noble ideal about reaching a higher state of consciousness or understanding or anything. But you need to be open to it, and you need a good set and setting. OP made it sound, to me, like he's ass-backwards on all of these.

That's exactly what I don't want. I enjoy being absurdly drunk with my friends, whether that makes me ignorant or whatever I find it to be a lot of fun and I don't want to lose that. Sounds like LSD is certainly not for me

I think most people that take drugs to be "enlightened" are bullshitting anyways.

Sure, you might come to some interesting conclusions and feel at peace, but you will never be "enlightened" after taking drugs. Because it isn't the "enlightenment" they are feeling, it is the drugs, and you have to keep taking the drugs to reach it again.

Anyone saying they have reached "enlightenment" through taking LSD are so off the mark, that they wouldn't be able to identify their own karmic ass.

If you enjoy taking LSD for purely recreation, I say go for it. Be smart about it, don't do stupid things - maybe you'll reach a point or two of "enlightenment" on the way and enjoy that as well.

    &Hail Satan

Also: Just because you and your friends do stupid shit when drunk, doesn't make alcohol the devil. Chalk it up to your inability to control yourself when alcohol has been imbibed.

How much LSD have you taken?

Not enlightenment in the sense that you're probably thinking, to be sure.

But no, important understandings stick without more drugs.

Enlightenment isn't something to fear, unless you're clinging to who/what you think you are - which may not be all that wonderful.

“It answered all my wishes and all my childhood dreams, and it gave me everything I wanted.”

Were you thinking enlightenment is some sort of steady and ongoing state? I'm serious when I say that I became enlightened through LSD and although the intense states didn't last, they were strong and pure enough to be foundational in changing my values and life. I'm grateful.
