What's going to happen to all of our towns and cities? You see a building nowadays that's a 100 years old and you're like "holy shit, this place is so old.." well in a 100 years from now... all our buildings will be like that... what about all of these massive cities? We're going to keep expanding, and the old stuff is slowly going to become more and more abandoned, and you can only rebuild and repair so much before you need to start tearing down... and how are you supposed to tear down a massive skyscraper in NYC? Assuming out planet lasts 500 more years... how are we supposed to get rid of all of these 500 year old cities and buildings? This thought randomly popped into my head last night when i was really really baked, and it flabbergasted me... but now, the next day, it kind of makes a lot more sense, but thought i'd go ahead and post it anyways!
When I started reading this my 1st thought ''that popped'' in my mind was are u man high now? ........but anyways it made sense to me too. if u belive in tho things like the end of the world or something u know the buildings will be stones once again ..........
yeah its really crazy to think like that i dont know about other cities, but in 50 years see my city with lots of 'new' neighborhoods you know, years ago, places were there wasnt anything (no urbanization i mean, you know like only plants and shit) are now all neighborhoods ... near my neighborhood here, there was this fucking big farm you know, in the middle of all urbanization, the owner of all that land must be rich now: one of those companies who build buildings and shit bought all the farm, made a big ass public park, some nice looking streets and a few tall residential buildings, you know , a whole new neighborhood, with a name and stuff now that just one example, theres lot of those big green areas that could fit an entire neighborhood in the middle of all urbanization around the city here, areas that in a few years will probably be bought and transformed to either good-looking neighborhood for the rich, or habitational complexes to the poor
Im hoping it all ends up like Coruscant. Everything gets swallowed by urbanization until its one giant city-world [/starwarsreference]
well, I'm sure buildings from the 1800s will still be standing considering they built such quality structures back then. But I doubt any of our generation's buildings will be standing then because everything is made with such shit these days...quick and cheap...that's the American dream
yeah, like lxm said, our current buildings will be long gone. developers don't build buildings to last anymore, they just build them to stay standing until the developer moves on to his next job. hit it with a plane. too soon?
Intresting, that got me wondering now when are the steel in these structures gonna start to give way..That wont be good, having a building tear down out of no where.
because europe is already at that stage. there are commonly buildings several hundred years old. malia has a point though.. the way many things are built now it will be garbage.
yeah dude, all those old bridges are dishevelling away day by day, still have yet to fall but still..One day things will happen
I've found tons of cities on the web that are already in ruins, and buildings deteriorating...and they are fairly new buildings (newer than 100 years).
It's crazy to think about how one day many of the towns and cities we know now will be in ruins, they will have to demolish it all, but they'll continue to build more elsewhere as well... what happens when there just is no more room to build? We're so fucked lol, we need a few more earths...
Entropy rules, whether mini or maxi. The chaos will probably occur within the next 100 years, given humanity continues on the same path it always has. Considering the totality of existance as we know it--it won't matter much. I will be worm chow much sooner than 100 years and that doesn't matter much either.
