I got pulled over in New York for not wearing a seat belt and I could not come up with the $130 to pay for it within the 15 days. I live in Pennsylvania so should i just send in the $130 late and they'll clear the bench warrant? Will they send me something so I know that the warrant is no longer active?

The traffic offense isn't but the failure to appear in court will automatically cause a warrant to be issued.

Any traffic citation will have a date to appear in court. So you have to pay the fines prior to that date or go before the judge to explain why you haven't paid. If they call your name and your not there, then it's
    warrant time.

OP, did you contact them about an extension? My wife put off paying a fine for 9 months by getting extensions.

I'd call to check what you owe...the great thing about not paying a ticket is the amount you have to pay usually doubles.

If you send the money in,make DAMN sure the warrant goes away. You know the old saying-"the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing"? Follow through on it.

i was talking to my son about this and he went thru it. Ticket in Washington State--he paid it-and no notice was ever given so consequently he drove around on a revoked licence for 2 years until he went to get a replacement. That's when he found out. There ya' go. So again--follow thru.
