yes. out of the 31 movies they made. They all suck,. just like the war with Iraq. Is that a coincidence or what?.. maybe its just me, I didnt care for any of them really. not a single one has Chuck Norris in it. 126 movies made about the Vietnam war. btw..
I was referring to the wiki list of movies. Im not really a movie person anyways. So the most common movies would be some that Ive viewed.
Lol that list was the first thing I found, too if you google *iraq war movies propaganda* there are some things but I dont feel like reading through all of that now
Ive seen alot of documentary's, but not really any movies. Even if you go back to WWII there are dozens of movies, even comedies. When it comes to the gulf war, there isnt much at all thats entertaining. I am watching the series Irminsul mentioned. So far its decent. a little to much jarhead chatter, but its ok... link to season one epi one. http://watchseries.eu/episode/generation_kill_s1_e1-8160.html they screwed up my night time line up on tv.. no more gomer pyle
Thx for the link, orison, but I can only watch videos next month when my internet connection is better. There are a lot of movies about ww2 but I have only seen a few ones which are not shitty. And I have yet to see a movie about the huge and spectacular fire bombings of german cities in ww2....normally the movie people like big explosions and fire and those were the biggest ones we had at that time.
with the 1990 iraq war . or this millennium war? and why there are no afghan war movie . i don't think i ever saw any .
The Beast, George Dzundza plays a cruel Russian tank commander who gets lost in the wilderness during the war in Afghanistan. As the enemy closes in, the glazed-eyed Dzundza must rely on his survival training to see him through this crisis. Meanwhile, one of Dzundza's men (Jason Patric), abandoned and left to die by his demonic commander, joins the Afghan cause. Filmed in Israel, The Beast (aka The Beast of War) was adapted from a play by William Mastrosimone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beast_(1988_film) Ive seen this movie a long time ago. I liked it..
Restrepo is a good documentary film about the war actually Restrepo takes place in Afghanistan I think. Its still a cool documentary none the less
I really liked Jarhead. I thought the hurt locker was cool. I cant think of any Iraq movies that I've seen. That was does suck though.
Hurt locker is a very cool movie, but its not that realistic. None of the rankings are right and they would never put the bomb suit on right away, thats like a last resort kinda thing. Theres some more stuff but i dont feel like typing it out right now. Still an entertaining movie though!
i meant this afghan war . not soviet afghan war . but i saw the movie you suggested , very good one . thank you
slaughterhouse 5 was made into a movie, it centres around the firebombing of dresden. the main problem with Iraq war movies is time, we'll see a lot more and of vastly superior quality after a few years have gone by and people have more time to reflect. Vietnam was brought up, and the comparison is very good. during much of the vietnam war, HUAC and Mccarthyism, and the remnants of that mentality meant that Hollywood was, as a whole, completely terrified of touching any political issue, particularly those relating to race, communism or the war (understandable, considering how many people in Hollywood, especially writers, had their careers destroyed over suspicions of communist sympathies) as a result, only one hollywood film actually depicted the war- The green Berets- and this was VIOLENTLY anti-communist and pro-america. this silence was part of the reason vietnam was dubbed "the war that dare not speak its name." even when the hollywood rennaisance started in '68, the films (which generally dealt with contemporary social issues) still only mentioned the war in absentia- american graffiti and taxi driver, for instance, deal only with people coming back from,or going to, vietnam. it took a long time for the war to be properly dealt with. people needed time, distance and artistic freedom. as for Iraq, another problem we have is censorship. Wanna borrow military equipment for your film? you've gotta go to the military, who can then censor or force revisions of your script. they're not to keen on anything which shows the war in too bad of a light. anything percieved as being "anti-military" can be subject to censorship. just give it time, there'll be a load sooner or later, and they'll probably be fairly good.
I liked Three Kings, Black Hawk Down, and Act of Valor. Act of Valor was cool because all of the actors weren't actually actors per se, but they were all actual Marines who've been there. They all got together and decided to make a movie because they were tired of the Hollywood version of war, and the incorrect portrayal of the Marines. They did what they could to show the reality of it all.
The US military will not cooperate with any movie maker who is going to make a movie critical of the military or US involvement in military actions. If the movie is going to show the military in a good light, they will loan soldiers, ships, airplanes, etc to the movie, if not, you are on your own. Hollywood is the biggest producer of propaganda that the US government has.
