I don't think most people know they even HAVE a pineal gland, let alone know what it does.

Well what do you say to the huge rise in diagnosis of autism in recent decades? It used to be rare, I myself have aspergers. I am not saying you are wrong, people don't research. I am just curious what your opinion is as to why there has been this huge rise.

The sharpest increase in autism diagnoses has been in the last 10 years. The number of vaccines babies receive hasn't changed that recently. Why would the vaccines just now be causing autism?

There are a million different factors that could go into the cause of autism and the cause of the recent spikes in rates, but why does it have to always be vaccines? There is much more evidence against it than for it, Dr. Wakefield, who pioneered the single, flawed study claiming to find a connection between vaccines and autism in 1999 and later recanted his findings, originally did the study because he was trying to sell his own version of the MMR vaccine--he too had a financial stake in the game.

Parent's of kids with autism are desperate for answers, and I would be too. But that doesn't mean we can ignore science for the sake of giving an over-simplified answer to comfort the parents of autistic kids.

There is a study I've heard of, that I think is still going on, on a possible link between Pitocin use in childbirth and autism. Pitocin is a synthetic form of oxytocin, the "bonding" hormone, but unlike natural oxytocin, Pitocin does not cross the blood brain barrier, meaning it has all the physical effects of oxytocin, but none of the emotional ones. It's thought that the lack of natural oxytocin in baby's brain may hamper it's neurological and social development. Pitocin use has also been on the increase in recent decades. What's curious is that they've also done trials of using natural oxytocin in nasal sprays to improve the level of functioning with autistic kids, with some interesting results.

They've also looked at ways to possibly identify autism before symptoms become apparent, and they've found that using eye-tracking, there does seem to be a pattern consistent with babies as young as 2 months who later go on to be diagnosed with autism. This would counter many parent's arguments that there child's symptoms did not begin until they were given a specific vaccine--the symptoms were always there, they just weren't nearly as obvious. More on that: http://www.ted.com/talks/ami_klin_a_new_way_to_diagnose_autism.html

There's yet another thread on this topic in the parenting forum, I've posted more info there if you're interested.

This frustrates me. Even if the fluoride isn't actually causing damage as this man says, I'm sick of being controlled by power hungry humans. I'd like to my my own decisions for my body and life, thanks.

So who are the ones who put flouride in the water? Who are they? I've never had cavities, but i dont drink city water. My water comes from a well....I dont see any benefits other than trying to kill germs, does flouride kill germs? This got me thinking, I'm going to do more research on flouride.

I drink an assload of fluoridated water, because I'm not a chump that pays the price of gasoline tenfold for a substance that makes up 70 percent of my planet's surface.

If you are that afraid that FLUORIDATED WATER is making you retarded, I suggest logging off the conspiracy forums and take a walk around the block. You'll see that the (MINIMAL) amount of fluoride in our water really has little to do with the levels of mental deterioration in today's world.

I'll make an argument that paranoia/fear is more damaging to the psyche than fluoride. And paying Nestle for your reversed osmosis water is only generating money for the conspiring corporate monster machine that will soon be putting RFID chips in our arms...

Well they got the idea from the Nazi's. They did the same thing in the concentration camps. Even a small amount of fluoride has a significant effect on mental capacity.

And I doubt anyone in this thread knows what the pineal gland does.
I don't mean unproven metaphysical mumbo-jumbo either, I mean the actual physiological function.

OMG! Are you really that fucking stupid!?

jaredfelix, did you bother to read the article you linked to?

If you did then you would know that article says the EXACT FUCKING OPPOSITE of what you thought.
After researching the idea of Nazi's using fluoride they came to the conclusion that it is A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT WITH ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS IN REALITY!

    final paragraph;

"Our Holocaust historian knew of no such project. Two book authors who researched the topic, one a journalist, the other a hydrologist, found no credible evidence of such a connection. A leading anti-fluoridation activist repudiates the story. The most commonly cited Web source for the story was a 16-year-old extract in a fringe Australian publication. So we can confidently declare this claim Pants on Fire!"

    (as in "liar, liar")

maybe you conspiracy nuts should do some REAL ACTUAL research. ;)
