This is hilarious. Bill O'Reilly - of all people - as the defender of Christmas...lol. The truth is that most newspeople - whether they're on CNN, MSNBC, or FOX News - are agnostic (although not all of them will publicly say so). Jews probably outnumber Christians. And the few "real" Christians in the news media - Pat Buchanan and Bob Novak - sound downright weird trying to defend the religious right.

Oh well, I'm sure that FOX saving Christmas will at least be some comic relief. :)

yeah, the cable news media has a thing of creating things that don't actually exist in real life, so they can make people get mad at things that don't matter. for instance, have you ever heard of a term "fake outrage"? after the desperate housewives thing or the super bowl, FOX was all on top of it. were real, normal people that disgusted in the things they spoke of? no, but they put their "panel" up there to make it seem as though what they are talking about actually has some credibility.

Wow, you're definitly brainwashed to be biased to a certain side.

As for the superbowl thing, I actually do know alot people who were pissed off that they allowed that to happen, mainly older people.

I don't think I have heard of any left-wingers trying to take away christmas...

Bill O'Riley is retarded. Doesn't he have anything better to do with his time, like an assistant to harass?

I've seen plenty of towns in the news this year that have bowed to the pressure of a few nutjobs and ban anything Christmas related from schools or public displays. When a school bans Christmas stuff, but allows Kawana and Hanukkah things, that's just to far. And also, there are plenty of people out there trying to make the country completly secular, banning any kind of religious celebration from the government, for a country where the vast majority of people celebrate Christian/Jewish/Muslim holidays whether they be that religious or not seems kind of extreme to me.

Many people seem to be caught up in this childish left/right crap again. Bill O'reilly is an idiot, I will gladly concur. But he has the right to speak his mind about "preserving" Christmas as much as everyone who would like the see Christmas abolished from the public eye has the right to speak their mind. I am not even religious, yet I still celebrate Christmas, and I refer to it as such.

People should just learn to live and let live, and stop worrying about the silly, irrelevant shit other people are doing and saying. Whether a person decides to celebrate Christmas or not, it's that person's business. But this shoving of ideals and beliefs down people's throats -- from both sides of the isle -- is moronic and sophomoric, and is used only to further polarize people. Don't buy into that scheme, there are much more important things going on in the world to expend your thoughts and energy on, instead of what a bunch of overpaid, self-righteous talking heads in the media are saying.

    *Sigh*

Christmas... it isn't even what the fuck it used to be. I mean if Christians want to defend Christmas, why do so many of them rely on a pinetree and Santa to express it for them. I don't want to teach my (future) children any of that. I mean true "Christians" would tell thier children that the reason that people "give gifts" is because the Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus. But no, they all believe in the capitalization of this so call "holiday". Honestly, I feel like most of the holiday is just tradition. I mean what the fuck is the point in killing a perfectly good tree and putting it in the living room for a couple of weeks and getting all pissed off driving around trying to figure out the "perfect" gift for everyone you know (going into debt doing so no less). I mean if anyone wants to argue the "true meaning of Christmas" I dare everyone to go back to the "good ol days" where homemade gifts meant something rather than how much someone spent on you. And where the meaning was family and togetherness. I hate Christmas, because everyone makes it a stupid and shitty holiday. This shitty attitude only happens one time a year. I don't walk into stores in the middle of July and find people fighting for parking spots and at each other's throats for the last damn ham. Its all crap. Just make Christmas what YOU want it to be, not what SOCIETY tells you it means.

Ah but that would require some real thought and a willingness to seperate from a group identity. It's much easier to prattle on about such things and pretend to be involved than it is to actually be involved. I mean, after all, those talking heads are payed highly for a good reason. (note sarcasm)

the right wing got most of what they wanted, with the exception of putting in concentration camps throughout the US ;) Now they need something else to complain about, as you know they have to have something.

Thank god they stood up for it, retailers would never survive the year with no holiday where you are forced to buy presents for everyone you know.

Nobody is banning anything. You're free to celebrate the birth of your lord but not to have the government establish christianity as the national religion.
