sitar is great for meditating, chilling and over all lisaning don't get me wrong i still like the greats Hendrix, Zeppelin , Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd but sitar man it the best eace:
The masters of the sitar are even bigger than the classic rock greats if you ask me. They have a completely different musical system, and have been doing it for thousands of years, so its hard to compare.
Even though youre sitting its very difficult to play, lots of cut fingers, numb legs, fatigued arms. Replacing strings is an afternoon project, you have to fish the strings out of the neck through the hole where the tuning peg goes with a hook, you have to tune 20 strings everytime you play. Not to mention the mental strain trying to learn their classical notation system. To actually play the thing properly takes a lifetime of devotion to only that instrument. The Shirod is a badass Indian Instrument too. Check out Ali Akbhar Khan. His father Baba Khan taught Ravi Shankar, and Ali Akbhar Khan taught my old Sitar teacher at his school of music in San Fransisco.
